Herne Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Hi everyone, I purchased IL2 BOS at the weekend on steam, at the time I didn't realise it was in beta, but that's ok. This is my first post, I did try the search utility, but didn't see any relevent threads. I have dual 6gb 780's in SLI that drives my 4k monitor. When I went to the graphics settings though, the available resolutions were awful, I don't even think they went as high as 1080p but will recheck. In full screen mode the resolutions I tried were horribly stretched, in windowed mode the windows were incredibly small. Can we expect 4k resolutions any time soon, and can anyone tell me if there are plans to make this compatible with the oculus rift ? I have a dk2 Thank you,
AndyHill Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I don't own a 4k monitor, but I've tried BoS at up to 5760 horizontal resolution and it worked (currently there are issues, but high resolutions should be there) so there should be support for high resolutions already. Do you have other games you can test with to see if they show the resolutions properly? What resolution is your Windows desktop at?
Herne Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Screen res is 3840x2160 Most games I play run at this resolution. It wasn't available to me though for IL2 BOS. Don't think I've rebooted my PC since install on steam so I can give that a go.
SYN_Bandy Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I have a 2550 x 1440 running at native resolution, so defo more than 1080p...
VR-DriftaholiC Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 There is a startup file in the game directory with resolution option inside. Maybe a clue to help you.
Herne Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 There is a startup file in the game directory with resolution option inside. Maybe a clue to help you. So I looked in D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game I can see the il2 executable and the launcher executable, but nothing named startup file. I'm linking the screenies I took and posted on youtube so you can see the kind of problem I'm having https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD2FGXI1ZmI
VR-DriftaholiC Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 not sure where it is in steam but for me its in the data sub folder C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\startup.cfg
Herne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 I re - installed rise of flight yesterday, and oddly enough, I'm having exactly the same problem with screen res. My IL2 COD detects the right screen res though, so it appears to just be a problem with games from 777 studios. Does this help ?

I found the start up file for Rise of flight and that worked like a charm. Also found it in IL2 BOS but that doesn't seem to make any difference
39bn_pavig Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Under windows 8.1 I had to use the radeon/nvidia control panels to make some resolutions available to the operating system. Some games would query the card and go to non-standard rez fine, but others queried the OS and didn't have the resolutions available by default.

Ok I'm using windows 7, just to clarify are you talking about making custom resolutions ? If so I can try that, but if not then i'm not sure what you mean
CisTer-dB- Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Mine work to perfection http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10741-flying-sim-4k-monitor/ I am not sure I understand why, you are saying that it works at 3840x2160 with other game? When I connected mine in the initial setup I could select 3840x2160 resolution Edited September 18, 2014 by Decibel_dB
