Leviathan_DW1987 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hello guys,I currently have a problem.I dont seem to succeed in centering my X65F for BOS.Anyone encountered the same problem? How about working with deadzones??What are the best settings of deadzones for BOS?
VR-DriftaholiC Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Check in options under curves to see if it's truly centered. I personally don't recommend dead zones or curvature of the sensitivity. This may have something to do with your experience: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3195-rudder-input-too-high/page-10?do=findComment&comment=83892
B12 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I'm surprised you even want to use the Saitek X65F in this sim? This is a true Force feedback HOTAS more in tune with an F-16 than this genre ... I have one and find it useless in WW1/WW2 Fighters, helicopters too. TM Warthog every day.
Leviathan_DW1987 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Well, i first have to try and find out if i like it for using in this game. But of cause this is a matter of opion.Currently i regretably dont have the money for a Thurstmaster Warthog.Anybody who have positive experience useage of the X65F?
B12 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Well, i first have to try and find out if i like it for using in this game. But of cause this is a matter of opion. Currently i regretably dont have the money for a Thurstmaster Warthog. Anybody who have positive experience useage of the X65F? Sorry I could have have been more helpful ... I do still have a Saitek X65F, not used it for a while but like you I had to try something like this I guess I will repeat though its far from ideal for this type of simulator, but it sort of works if you mount the stick solidly and give it plenty of practise with small precise pressure, with mine and lots of practise I could do reasonable helicopter landings in FSX, fair sort of flight in in RoF and have not tried it in this sim yet, I keep meaning to sell it now I have a Warthog but imagine it will in time be a collector item like the MS FF stick is just now? But your problem is a centring issue right? I heard this happens with these, apparently the stick inside has a vertical metal rod that is sometimes not calibrated too well but its never too far out, mine had this issue too, got round it with an appropriate dead zone in windows so that stick stayed centre in calibration screens (a dead zone for a stick is a good thing BTW) ... don't confuse this centring issue with engine torque in this sim please though if you dont use rudder pedals ... and if you do use rudder pedals, disable the FF twist function of the X65F, that works terribly IMHO and just get some rudder pedals please. It was a good idea from Saitek for use in jet fighter sims mostly but poorly implemented IMHO ... I used to beta test for these guys but they were very poor in accepting feedback ideas to the point of ignoring it all. This should have been a force feedback stick to replace MS FF2, (not force sensing) but the feedback to company got lost along the way. ... possibly, especially as final units were assembled in far east A good software dead centre stick area should resolve your problems I hope.

Bleh... the x65 was pure awesome for me in Blackshark2. It took a bit of time to get used to, but I was an expert in the Ka50 using that stick. Anybody who have positive experience useage of the X65F? I have to agree with Katana on his post above to some extent. The x65 is one of my favorite sticks, but never liked it for WW2 sims. I always go for the MSFF2 for the WWII birds for 2 reasons. 1. Its FF and helps a lot with feeling what the plane is doing. 2. I never need as many buttons vs. a sim with more modern flight and weapon systems. I am sure if you use the software to center it with the software and play with the force sensing sensitivity and play with the curves in BoS it can be great. It takes a bit to get used to, but once its set it can smooth as butter. Very underated hotas IMO.
Leviathan_DW1987 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 what do you guys think of the;Logitech G940.Saitek X55 RhinoThrustmaster WarthogCompared to Saitek X65F Pro
IceIceni Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Hey I'm an x65 user. I'm new to this game but not to the stick. I have 800+ hours on it.The trick to the x65 is the SST software. And the real trick to the stick is using the deadzone properly. A gimballed stick deadzone is bad. With an x65 it's not actually a deadzone. It's not a deadzone because the stick never moves, and you can transition what would be the gap instantly. Instead think of the deadzone as a wobble buffer. Without a deadzone any button click at neutral will deflect the stick.I have my stick setup like this. You can see that all the axis have some deadzone, This allows you to hold and grip this stick without a problem since the sensor will pick up very small changes in force. To the point that on it's lowest force settings you can hit full deflection with the tip of your tongue. You should also set this stick up for yourself if you haven't done so already. You do this by setting the maximum force you want for full deflection first. Then you work backwards from that point adjusting the curve to match so you have a full range of controlled motion. Most of the fatigue issues people have is by setting a maximum deflection force that is to high because they can't get the stick slow enough for the fine control. The curve lets you have the best of both worlds. My force settings will probably be too fast for you. I'll post them anyway so you can have an idea about them. My settings are set for the sort of pressure you hold an egg with at the low end, And at maximum deflection it's about the same amount of force you would use to peel an orange. You can always add to the values until you find your confort zone. With these settings I can game for 8+ hours at a time and have yet to have any problems.Force.x 0.63Kgf y 0.78Kgfrudder 1.1Nm.Hope it helps. Edited October 2, 2014 by IceIceni 1
