II./JG77_Manu* Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) I really don't get "the people". They were complaining all the time about the boring "pure dogfight expert servers", without any propper tasks to fullfil etc. Right now we have a very good,(in fact 2, but Syndicate is offline while i am writing) well established objection based Multiplayer server (Eagle Nest), and what are my eyes seeing? Most of the "expert pilots" are flying around in the EU server, while the well-made Eagle Nest is almost empty. I don't get it. Edited September 6, 2014 by Celestiale 1
Pupo Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Eagle nest is based in the US, EU server is based in EU. Simple as that.
II./JG77_Manu* Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 so what is the problem there?
wellenbrecher Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Many folks will think they're going suffer from the higher ping. Which is nonsense, but they'll think that regardless. Also last I checked (half an hour ago or so) Syndicate was packed 61/61 :>
II./JG77_Manu* Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 jep the ping thing is nonsense, didnt ever have a problem on any server. yeah syndicate is very crowded mostly but i feel a little bit sorry for the Eagle Nest one, because it's set up very nice, but often there are not enough people to enjoy it
wellenbrecher Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Well, since Syndicate is so full I for one mostly fly there. And yeah, the mission is amazing. 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 also don't be to surprise those go down; they want more testing done on the Test servers for stability before release.
wellenbrecher Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) About the ping thing once more: First, I convinced one more EU player to try US servers, as he previously thought the ping wouldn't make it work. So yay for that! Secondly, I actually visibly noticed lag for the first time yesterday. Was playing at 165 ping (or something close to that) on Eagle's Nest. Made a pass on a 109, put bullets into him. There was a very slight but visible delay between hitting him and seeing the puffs of smoke on my screen, and the actual damage taking place on my screen, causing his tail section to shatter/smoke to come out/the 109 starting to tumble. It made no difference to hit detection or to me getting the kill. So chalk up one more for "ping doesn't matter". Edited September 7, 2014 by [JG2]G3_wellenbrecher

It works the same way as 1946, hit detection is on the shooter side, which means you wont feal the lag when shooting but you will feel it frm the being shot at point of view. that same pass on the victims side will have seen the shots clearly missing him and as soon as he thoug "ufff, i made it" his plane got damaged. Some people can cope with it, some (like me) get somewhat frustrated at this events... anyway, not all is bad. As you said, if this is only event where you noticed lag, bomber missions will go unmolested (even if you are shot at the effect i described will go unnoticed), so i might as well pick an il-2 the next time syndicate is down. See you in the skies!
II./JG77_Manu* Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 aaand again...instead of one full server we have 2 half-empty ones. how will this become, once "everyone" is allowed to set up a server.....
Pupo Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 people will choose, what they want. il-2 1946 had over 50-100 servers up every night.. yet spitsvs109 and skiesoflfames were always full, while the vast majority were empty / private servers for squads. no need to worry yet, and specially no need to limit the ability of people creating their own playgrounds...
