Stepping up to the next level...CH Products question.

Hello all,

Decidedly mid-range sim driver here.  I enjoy RoF and BoS and have invested enough in them to finally start looking into upgrading my controls.  Currently I just putz around with a simple old Saitek AV8R stick.

I've been quite enamored with the CH Products stuff --- and will likely eventually go with the joystick and throttle.  I'm not 100% sold on the rudder pedals (close together, and weak return-to-center seem to be very common complaints).  I know CH software works solely with CH products items ---- but could I use something like a Saitek set of rudder pedals with the stick/throttle from CH?

I may give in and try the CH rudder pedals regardless, but is anyone running a mixed control set up using CH products items with other manufacturer components?

Cheers,

Oscar

You can use mixed products. I use to have CH Pedals with a Saitek stick, worked "fine" but the CH pedals were uncomfortable and I got rid of them for the Saitek Pro Flight Combat Pedals. Currently I'm all Saitek - pedals and X55. I had a CH Combatstick that was a gameport model a long time ago (over 10 years ago). I ended up getting a Saitek X36 to replace it, then a X52 Pro when the X36 was discontinued and finally the X55. You can totally use mixed products - its just up to you on comfort and price. I love the Saitek pedals, way better than the CH pedals. I think some people are even using a Warthog with X52 throttle and MFG Crosswinds.

I could probably buy the MFG pedals, or the other brand that I can't recall right now, that are all metal and made out of what must be pure awesome - but the Saitek Pro Fight CPs work well enough for me after removing the center indent.

The one advantage I like about using all CH components is that you can bind all in the Control Manager software, which has saved me having to worry about axes losing their assignments since they show up in all flight sims as one device.  I know there are better pedals, but I've never had any problems with mine.

Thanks.  Unfortunately my budget is keeping this on hold for a while.  I'd buy all the CH stuff in a lump and just roll with it if I could.  I'm also hoping to grab a DSD button box for some additional controls.  I like the Saitek pedals but they demand even more money, tsk tsk.

Baby steps I suppose.
