Outlaw Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 She is getting pretty close to what I originally envisioned...Rigged for Driving Rigged for Flying The change from the Logitech G940 stick to the Logitech G27 racing rig takes about 7 minutes. The enitre race rig arm rest comes off in one piece with the shifter permanently bolted in place. Two pieces replace it. The stick is permanently mounted to a smaller shelf that mounts lower than the arm rest. The Logitech throttles and the Saitek throttle quadrant do not have to move with the change. Studs for Mounting Arm Rests Race Rig Arm Rest w/6 Speed Shifter Console Shifter Console Bolts on Underside of Arm Rest Flight Pedals Stored Inside Cockpit Race Wheel Mounts to Seat 19" Touch Panel for Sending Commands to Game Touch Panel Will be Driven by a Raspberry Pi Linux PC (I still have to write the software) I'll shut up for now. There is still a lot of clean up to do. The Pi is not mounted, the cables are a mess, the rear speakers need a better rig, the power for the wheel is not even setup at all so I haven't even raced it yet. I've had the damn thing a year so it may not even work for all I know. Thanks for hanging around long enough to check it out. --Outlaw. 3
Finkeren Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 And I feel like a big nerd for just having my X55 standing on my desktop Nice rig, man.
Cybermat47 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 That is awesome! All I've got is a joystick XD
Buglord Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Looking good , ive need to have a set up like this.. been thinking of making one for a while but don`t have the time at the moment . i think a comfy car seat is the way to go thou..
Outlaw Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 i think a comfy car seat is the way to go thou.. Most definitely. Mine is from an '85 Fiero and it's obviously seen better days. Regular car seats aren't made for standing in and that's the only way to get in my rig, especially with the steering wheel in place. It used to be longer so the seat could move farther back but when I went to the TV instead of a projector I didn't have the room behind it so I shortened it. Eventually I will probably buy a cheapo racing seat (the last time I checked they were around $250) but between my 'Vette and kit car I'm booked pretty solid as well. Like I said, this puny little rig is 14 years in the making. At the rate I'm going on my kit car it will take me 22,000 years at least. I may never get my 'Vette running again and it's probably only 6 or 7 hours of work! --Outlaw.
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 S! I have been thinking of something like the Obutto Revolution gaming cockpit. Could throw away the old desk and crap chair Outlaw, projects tend to take "some" time, so do not worry
Feathered_IV Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Pretty proud of the immersion delivered by my MS Sidewinder balanced on top of an upturned waste paper basket. That looks considerably more elaborate. 1

I hope to eventually weld up something nicer than a pile of crappy particle board but, until I get everything the way I want it I'm not going to start welding. It's much easier to cut (and recut) particle board than steel tubing. --Outlaw.
