JimmyGiro Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 What use is a pre-emptive review? Do you marry off children in accordance to what you think they will become? We the fan-base are already converts, so reviews are no use to us other than to flatter or deride our judgements. So what of the prospective player, what do they get from pre-emption? A bad review can only attract the perverse, who are exclusively attracted to exceptions; all else will be put off. A good review will feed expectation, the driving force of gambling, and wishful excess. More suitable for investors than simmers, since although gambling is itself part of gaming, the gambler does not bet on the fidelity of the bet itself, for who would play on a bent table. A good review of an unfinished project, therefore, is a disappointment in the waiting; because those who live in the dream world of high expectation, have no real limits to their fantasies, hence they are more likely to be disappointed with the real and final outcome. Further more, heightened expectation can only serve to pressure those who have to fulfil the project.
Dakpilot Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 What use is a pre-emptive review? Simply product awareness to a wider market, original IL-2 had a huge general market, many of which are not aware of BoS or that it is in beta testing Cheers Dakpilot

They couldnt even handle half the players on a server as the promissed. Take a look at the CloD home page, you can clearly see that they couldnt even get that right! Must spread the word about TeamFusion

Must spread the word about TeamFusion Thank god I never had to endure that, CloD is awsome however with TeamFusion. Cant wait for singleplayer in BoS but I wish there was also a career mode like in RoF. Edited September 4, 2014 by Flack88 1
Rjel Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Any advertisement (positive) has got to be looked upon as a good thing. Whether now or when the sim is finished. I can't remember the sims title, but there was a sim back in the mid to later 90s that was advertised on the Discovery channel every time I watched any documentary. I always thought the original IL-2 really missed out by not doing that.

I always thought the original IL-2 really missed out by not doing that. Pretty sure that was Aces High. I know they ran some commercials, and shortly thereafter was the influx of "teh P51 wonz0rs teh war!" Publicity is good and obviously any, and all, new customers are great for getting further development/expansions/planes/theaters/whatnot but there is also the unforunate side effect of people who want to perform the "I'll hit the brakes, he'll fly right by us!" form of aviatin'.
