JG52EvilMerlin Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Ye gods no. The Spitfire was UUGGGGLLLYYY
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 There actually has been 1 beautyfull Spit: Just give it a Daimler Benz and Balkenkreuze and nobody will ever complain
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 hawker_biplanes.jpg Fury.jpg Oh yes! The Hart/Hind/Furry series of biplanes is among the most elegant ever built, no doubt! Apart from the Spitfire being the by default most beautiful plane ever, I also quite like some of the Italian machines, which I feel share some of the elegance of the Hawker biplanes. Savoia S.21, the "Porco Rosso"-plane
unreasonable Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 i thought everybody would agree spitfires curves makes her perfect, im surprised I suppose because the Spitfire has been held up as the prettiest plane for so long everyone finds it a bit of a cliché. Since non-WW2 planes are being shown I have to add the following, which I have always thought was the most amazing thing in the sky, although you really need the awesome deep rumbling sound to get the full terror of this thing coming to kill you.
Mastermariner Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! I am very disappointed with you. The candidate is obvious.
unreasonable Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 You would have thought that a Mastermariner would dislike a Tempest! 1
Finkeren Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Has this devolved into a discussion about which plane looks the best? Great To me there can be only one winner: You just can't beat those lines. Pity the capabilities didn't really live up to the stunning looks. 1
DD_bongodriver Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 There is a reason Mig rhymes with Pig, if you want genuine USSR beauty then it's Yak.....at least in WWII terms.
DD_bongodriver Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 But that rhymes with cack. I'm confused..... Don't be, just trust me, the Mig is fugly and the Yak sublime.
sallee Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Don't be, just trust me, the Mig is fugly and the Yak sublime. So mote it be....
1CGS Han Posted November 1, 2014 1CGS Posted November 1, 2014 Emmmmmm.... No, this one Most romantic and the same time powerfull metal bird ever It's like a great and laconic beautiful sword in the sky. 2
Wulf Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 No no no!!!!...That's just silly. Where are the propellers for God's sake! This is most beautiful .........
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Not as slim and cleanly shaped as the 109 but I agree Yak-3 is looking good Calling out a favourite is rather difficult indeed. There are many nice looking planes and many nice handling planes, most noticeable the ones being both. So rather than focusing on one I'm pretty fascinated by several different aircraft in the same fashion. As for divebombers the Curtiss Helldiver is certainly one very beautyfull bird. My Grandfather flew that plane from the carrier Franklin (CV-13) He told me it was hated by the crew, they called the SB2C the son of a b@tch 2nd class. The only way to bail out was to roll inverted and release the seat belt or the slipstream would pull you into the tail making you half the man you were. But I do like the looks of it and fly it a lot in IL2 1946.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Interesting storry, always thiugh it had a rather well reputation... Still among the most beautyfull dive bombers (and I'd totally love to fly it some day in a modern sim)
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 OK Wulf I will bite: what is that? Looks a bit like the big brother of the Westland Whirlwind I posted earlier with Merlins and an extended fuselage. Not sure what Cristopher Walken is doing in the cockpit though.
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) what is that? DeHavilland Hornet......actually it's a Sea Hornet as it seems to have the arrestor gear. Edited November 2, 2014 by DD_bongodriver

Looks a bit like the big brother of the Westland Whirlwind I posted earlier with Merlins and an extended fuselage. Not sure what Cristopher Walken is doing in the cockpit though. The Hornet is actually more like a degenerated Mosquito.
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Yes I see what you mean - much slimmer body, single seat Mosquito. Looks cool in the silver finish, but a bit hairdresserish. Mossie looks more serious.
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 You know, analagous to a hairdresser's car, like Lotus, not a real man's car like an Austin Healy 3000. The Hornet would probably look better in British Racing Green. (I had forgotten how to spell analogous so I started to type the word into Google: amazing what came up before I was even half way through....)
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (I had forgotten how to spell analogous so I started to type the word into Google: amazing what came up before I was even half way through....) potentially lots of Hairdressers I imagine
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 The Hornet would probably look better in British Racing Green. They wore cammo, finding a colour photo is like finding Bigfoot, heres a model.
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Looks like an anorexic Mosquito that has been grounded by it's dad. Love the blue grass.

Lusekofte Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 The most beautifull aircraft is not even in the game yet. +1 the prettiest of them all
Lusekofte Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) But this 2 have fascinated me most Edited November 2, 2014 by LuseKofte
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Only their mums could think either of those were beautiful.
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I sicked a little when I saw the pics.
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Interesting storry, always thiugh it had a rather well reputation... Still among the most beautyfull dive bombers (and I'd totally love to fly it some day in a modern sim) As modern day sim as we can get right now... IL2 '46 with HSFX and the Helldiver mod.
Jaws2002 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Emmmmmm.... No, this one Most romantic and the same time powerfull metal bird ever It's like a great and laconic beautiful sword in the sky. Had tons of fun with that one in fsx.Really cool bird. Edited November 2, 2014 by Jaws2002
johncage Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 sorry but the most beauifull plane ever and by far is IMHO: and the 2. on my list is this plane: the ugly brother of bf 110
Lusekofte Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Has this devolved into a discussion about which plane looks the best? Great To me there can be only one winner: You just can't beat those lines. Pity the capabilities didn't really live up to the stunning looks. I agree and I wish this would be in this game, the MIG 3 did perform excellent in altitudes it was designed for, but in Russia even the Heinekens flew medium to low altitude
Lusekofte Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) But to me the most interesting planes in the war was not those who was in service, but the ones Germany in panic designed to counter the offensives from east and west JU-287 Meet the new stuka Edited November 6, 2014 by LuseKofte
I./JG1_Baron Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 For me most beautifull plane from WW2 are this:
Yakdriver Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 i am very fond of this bird...at home in the alps and at sea.
KaC_Furias Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Italian's planes regianne 2005 sagittario( archer) : Machi 205 veltro ( greyhound) fiat g-55 Centauro :
