cromagnon Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hi, bonjour, I think that horizontal needle, don't work. The Vertical is fine.
1./JG42Nephris Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 You is wrong Both are working properly. As soon as you fly across your homebase the horizontal needle turns down and indicates your are above home.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I share the OP's observation. I even flew above the airfield (and landed there) to see if the distance indicator (diagonal upper needle) works properly, didn't notice any reaction. The same counts for my whole bomber sortie flying some docens of km away from the beacon. The vertical needle works fine and can even be jammed in combat (noticed this today after intense fighter attacks). It's better to always plan a course before going ahead and counting on your beacon indicator to navigate you back safely, which is quite reasonable.
feuervogel Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Imagine a full functional "Blindanfluggerät" à la IL2 1946 - it would be really cool!!! Not just the needles working, there is a light and an audio signal for the final approach. Please watch for info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWrUnwHc4Kg I dream on ... for the possibility to get the runway fires on for landing at nighttime ... 1
