Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X users - need help

Probably not a big community of BoS players using the TM T-flight Hotas X, but if anyone is, I'd love some help --

I cannot for the life of me get BoS to recognize the "5th axis / rocker" button on the forward face of the throttle.  The game tries to map this as the "p-axis" -- but it doesn't recognize it in game.

Specifically, I've always used this in Cliffs of Dover for prop pitch control in the 109.  Works great.  And I"m so used to it, I really want to be able to use it in BoS as well.  I learned (with a lot of practice) to use manual prop pitch in the 109E-3 and really do not want to use the auto- prop pitch feature.

When I try to set this up for prop-pitch control in BoS, it seems to set up fine -- but when I deactivate the auto-prop pitch in the 109F and try to use this axis to control prop pitch (as I do in CloD), it simply doesn't work.  I'm baffled.

(Incidentally, I'm kind of surprised and disappointed BoS doesn't let you assign *joystick* key combinations the way you can in CloD - ?  It's terribly limiting -- )

The case is Bf 109 (Fw 190) use two controls for increase decrease prop pitch, instead one (Propellers pitch control) like Il-2, LaGG-3 (different system).

Try assign the same axis in these two fields, and invert the axis ( :) ) in one these.

If not work (what I suspect...) use a keymapper (e.g. JoyToKey) and set this axis to press ---> RShitf+minus and <--- RShift+equals.

In CloD the Hotas X rocker axis work (for Bf 109) because the axis is see in game a "ON-OFF-ON" (down-middle-upper) switch (same for flaps and water radiator), and the axis in Hotas X have a center detent, putting the axis as default in "OFF". If try set (CloD Bf 109) PP in a lever axis (e.g. these in Saitek Quadrant) work but dont result practical, due the lack of center position.

Many thanks, Sokol1.  I'm at work at the moment but will give your suggestions a try later tonight.

Really wish BoS provided a straightforward way to set up key combos on my joystick, like CloD.

Greetings! I'm having a hard time setting my TM T-flight Hotas X... do you really need to assign everything manually? or is there a controller profile selector somewhere...

Thanks!

At present you need assign the buttons function in Controls GUI.

But is not a big problem, HOTAS-X have few buttons, so is mater of define priority, you need decide what you want do with some joystick or throttle button.

What can be influenced be the plane type you fly more, a good profile for fighter can not be good for bombers, if you use a headtrack (TrackIR, Freetrack...)...

A way to maximize and optimize buttons usage is with external keymaper software, so one button can do more than one function.

Since HOTAS X is not compatible with Thrustmaster T.A.R.G.E.T.  is need use a 3rd part one like JoyToKey, Xpader.

Notice that use keymaper is not essential, but optional and in some cases advisable. :)

Thank you for your advice Sokol1. I will try it when I get back from work later on. I guess I was to excited to fly right away and didn't have much time to configure it patiently.

I just picked up a Hotas T-Flight as well.  I am able to assign that P-axis...but it is a springed "return to zero" function, like the joystick itself.  Thus even if you used it for pitch, it seems it would pop back to neutral or default.  I tried it with zooming in/out also, but unfortunately it always falls back to the center (I fly zoomed out in my head-view).

I've only been mapping today and haven't encountered any other issues so far.  Regarding mapping buttons - it kind of sucks but you have to do it at some point.  With RoF and BoS my first 45 mins. to an hour are spent sittign on the tarmac, deleting every default button, and assigning only the ones I need.

You'll find (depending on your play settings) that a bunch of the controls are useless or rarely used.  The primary ones you'll be using will occupy your joystick/throttle/a handful of keyboard buttons.  Good luck, let us know if you work it out.
