HagarTheHorrible Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Watching a video of the live stream I was impressed with the animation of the pilot. I know it's just a teeny weeny little thing but it's something I've wanted to see for so so long, it seems to give life to what could otherwise be an sterile scene. It's one thing that I don't like about DCS, the aircraft look great, but the pilot just sits there, or if he does move it looks wooden and doesnt convince me that I'm looking at a real person (ME) in the cockpit (I know it's odd, but that's just what I think. RoF was OK but the pilots looked a bit last generation and didn't convince, the BoS models look superb though. I just really really hope that they (AI) will also be context sensetive so that they look around or move in a believable way either when taxying or in combat for example.
Finkeren Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 The animated pilots are carried over from RoF, though obviously they've recieved quite a brush up - they really look great in BoS. I have the same hopes about AI pilots turning their heads to track objects. It was present in the old IL2, and I sure hope, that it makes it into BoS.
Sim Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I believe in RoF the AI tracked and moved the head - but it wasn't a 1:1 representation. Hoping for BoS this will be improved. Also, in BoS you can lean from the cockpit to the sides (or even stand up) when you have it open - I wonder if that will be represented with external animations for players/AIs? How cool would be to see someone leaning out while taxiing on the ground?
Bearcat Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Yes I a ed that same thing in another thread. It would be great if the pilot animation as fast as leaning and turning were linked to TIR.
Finkeren Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 As it appears in the live stream, it will be posible to open the cockpit and lean your head over the side to look down or behind. How awesome/gruesome would it be to be on someones six o'clock and watch their head pop out to look behind and make eye contact just as you press the trigger?
