Joystick/Keyboard bindings

I've tried everything that I can think of but I can not for the life of me get my joystick/keyboard setup correctly.

 

Leaving all control options at default results in various and random issues e.g.

 

F2 Key etc no response so no external views

 

Hat Switch, one minute it's functioning normally(read free head movement within cockpit) the next it's does some wierd bizzar thing where it will look in a direction, very precisely,  then return to centre. This maybe a setting that can be set but I'm sure as hell not doing it.

 

Customizing the various control options doesn't return any net gains.

 

Any ideas how to fix would be appreciated.

For the F2 to work, you need to have the external view enabled in the difficulty settins (I thinks it's actually called "allow spectators").

 

The other issues indeed seem to have something do do with the view settings, but I'm not very familiar with those.
