Easy_Target Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Just curious how people approach this type of game. WIll you pick one plane and fly it constantly to get very, very good with it, or will you fly all the planes, trying to figure out how each works? For myself, I plan on learning the Friedrich and Stuka. I'll likely spend most of my time in the 109, but the Stuka has always interested me, so I will at least get the basics on how to fly it down. I'm not really interested in any of the other planes in game. If they add a P-39 or Yak-7, I will certainly fly that. 1
dburne Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I will focus on the Russian planes, and right now my one of choice is the Yak.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Historical scenarious: BF's. Everything else: Fw's.
39bn_pavig Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I will be playing this like I play Rise of Flight - I will fly mostly one plane for a while/career then move on to another. It is good to get to know each plane intimately, which I think requires consistency. It is also good to change around from time to time. Often the under-appreciated planes have some good points, and even if they are lemons it makes victory all the sweeter. 2
Gambit21 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I don't limit myself - I like to experience all or at least most of the aircraft since they all offer different experiences. I've never had any trouble becoming proficient in multiple AC. That said, my favorite fighter to take up online is the Yak. As far as bombers or ground attack AC - I love them all.
Leaf Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Seeing that I'm still a fairly mediocre pilot I'll focus my efforts on one plane, for now.
III/JG52_Llucmk Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I like all the planes, but unfortunate i understand more german planes than russians ones...
Matt Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I basically fly most planes. La-5, Pe-2, Fw 190, Bf 109 G-2 see the most use though. Maybe i'll fly dive bomber or ground attack planes more often, if the single player carreer is any good or if i think it makes sense to fly those planes in a MP mission.
senseispcc Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I try most of the planes but I fly only one, the La-5, so I know his strong points and also what not to do! It so I have 500 hours on Spitfire MK Ia 100oct in COD and know this plane fairly well.
FlatSpinMan Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I'll fly all planes in a haphazard, undisciplined way, signally failing to get the maximum performance out of them, yet I will still enjoy it greatly. 7
GRehalkov Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I prefer fighters of VVS, now it´s almost exclusively Yak, but it´s possible that in future I relearn to La5.
Pringliano Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I am focused on the Yak-1 in the Allies side, and trying to settle with either the G2 or the 190 for the Axis side - didn't yet make my final choice. Although they're great, I don't like bombers...
Guest deleted@1562 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I will fly every plane a campaign is provided for. Especially looking forward to fly the IL2, HE-111 and the Bf-109.
AndyJWest Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I suspect I'll be flying the bombers mostly online.
DD_Arthur Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I'll fly all planes in a haphazard, undisciplined way, signally failing to get the maximum performance out of them, yet I will still enjoy it greatly. This! I spent over ninety bucks on this game. I'm getting my money's worth. I intend to fly the shit out of all of them! 2

When the experiment is finished I shall destroy the guinea pigs. No. Good question. I'll fly all planes in a haphazard, undisciplined way, signally failing to get the maximum performance out of them, yet I will still enjoy it greatly. That sounds rather like my approach...but I intend to concentrate on the 111 and the Yak.
Finkeren Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I will try out each plane type in all game modes. No question. I'll propably spend less time with the Ju 87 and the 109s in campaign mode. I feel I have done them to death in most other WW2 sims I've flown, and honestly the 109s just aren't that intersting to fly. I have little doubt, that my favourites in SP will be the He 111 (for its complexity and the fun of flying a heavy multi-crew AC) and the LaGG-3 (because it's just so much fun to fly and makes you fight for it, even against AI) In MP it really will depend on server settings. I'm primarily a VVS pilot, but I'm also the kind of guy who switches teams to keep things balanced. My favourite in "airquake" is the Yak-1 simply because it's the best in a dirty, low-level furball. As soon as we get better missions, I'll definately be flying the LaGG-3 more, I just can't help but love that plane to death. I'll also look forward to having a real reason to fly the Pe-2 as a dive bomber. As soon as we get some high value targets in objective driven MP missions, I'm strapping myself into the Peshka. Finally. When we get the Ju 52 (please, please, PLEASE! ) I'll be the first to try and sneak that old, slow aunt into the kessel. 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) All together of course I have a slight prefference towards german planes (maybe because cockpit writings are not cyrillic ) without having focus on any plane. Depending on my mood I pick a 109 or the 190 depending on the style I want to fight with it or a Stuka / Heinkel to hunt some ground targets and alert some airfields . Personally I would love to have focus on my favourite plane (hence my nick ) but I fear they all simply offer too much fun to just restrict one to a single plane. Guess it will be the same with future planes being added after release. Edited August 29, 2014 by [Jg26]5tuka
C-Bag Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I try them all and so far the IL2 and the Yak1 keep me coming back to them. I don't know if I'm just slow or it's because of limited time, but it takes a lot of practice for me to feel confident in all phases of operation with gunnery and smooth landings a top priority. This sim truly has the kind depth I've been looking for and of course I've not even gotten into missions or MP.
Mac_Messer Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 In any WWII flightsim I fly Bf109, FW190, maybe a P51, P47 and a Zero or Ki61. Not interested in other aircraft.
Krause Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 FW 190 for the LW and the Yak-1, La-5, Il-2 for the VVS are my favs! I'm loving the La-5 in this sim.
IIN8II Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I am only going to fly the MiG-3 when it is available... when, yes when 2
Bussard_x Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 In the campaign I will mainly fly Bf109, Yak-1,transport missions for He111 and IL-2 with full weapon load out.
AceRevo Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I will fly them all but Im not really a fan of bombers as much as a fighter. Love a great dogfight. Eventually I will make my favorites and prob go by these most of the time..
Pharoah Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 So far I've spent most of my time flying the IL2 for the Russkies and He-111 for the Krauts (to use the ole' WW2 lingo). Funnily enough, I'm actually enjoying doing everything I can to NOT blow my engine(s)! (and its not easy).
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 He 111, ju 87 and Ju 52(when/if it comes out)
Felix58 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I'm with FSM and Fink. I like the 109 but basically boring to fly. The La-5 looks interesting and I'll dabble with the FW190 in the odd airquake. The il2 is more interesting to fly than I thought it would be and the Stuka is always fun. Once there are some targets worthy of the he-111 and the Pe-2 I can see myself going that way. Like Fink I enjoy the complexity and having a crewed (by players on TS) plane is always fun.
Major_Hero Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 My initial focus is on the Yak. I'll stay with this bird until my flight combat and engine management skills improve. I also really love the Lagg, and the feeling of weight flying the 111 is really something. Great sim
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I am only going to fly the MiG-3 when it is available... when, yes when You must love her because, frankly, she fell outta the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Plus, peashooters for weapons.
9./JG27golani79 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 A s I´m a bloody noob I think I´ll stick to one plane in the beginning until I get the hang of it :D Just started a few days ago in CloD doing my first steps in a 109 and I definitely need more practice - especially at taking off as I´ve got no rudder pedals and I find it terribly hard to keep the bird on track ^^
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) I said it tongue in cheek elsewhere but when we branch off (someday because the sim is so successful) and get some training aircraft I would actually love to fly an SG 38 schulgleiter in a release. It'd be awesome for the noobs to train from the ground up in it and I'd have fun as long as I wasn't taking on La5's in it. I just found it as a DLC for FSX but it has non historical gauges. carts Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Good question,Personally I will mainly fly the 109 as its hands down, my favourite aircraft, but will take them all out for a spin at some point I am sure.
