marklar Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Looks very promising. Will try it tonight. Thanks!
Mags Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Ooh, you Chuck! Who said 'Maybe next week?'...? ;-) You are a fast guy! Excellent!
Klaue Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 S! Outstanding Thank you so very much for taking the time to create this awesome manual.
Gambit21 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Chuck Have I told you...lately...that I love you?
AndyJWest Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Excellent work. One minor point - the maximum bomb load allowed by the BoS He 111 is actually 2 x SC-1800: 3600 kg.
Guest deleted@1562 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Excellent! Even though I did level bomb in IL-2:1946 this will be very handy. Thank you!

Ooh, you Chuck! Who said 'Maybe next week?'...? ;-) You are a fast guy! Excellent! Well it was either gonna be now or never, so I bit the bullet. I won't have time to write that sort of documentation for the next year. 'Thought some of you guys might benefit from it. 1
RainMan Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 An excellent guide. Well written and informative. Thank you.
Yankee_One Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Great! Thank you for sharing. Makes my life easier S! LC
wellenbrecher Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Thank you! Loved the Peshka one, and this is right on again.
BMA_West Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Big thanks, again! Now you're running out of bombers LOL Once again, this realy should end up in the tutorial/manual pool for continuous easy access. Edit: ok, they are there now, thanks again! Edited August 29, 2014 by West
Freycinet Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Excellent write up, concise and humourous, thank you so much for your work with both this and the Pe-2!
Chuck_Owl Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) I haven't found any key binding to switch to beacons yet... Edited August 29, 2014 by 71st_AH_Chuck
AndyJWest Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Has anyone figured out how to get the bombsight automatic mode to work consistently? Even with no wind, it doesn't seem to track the target accurately if you set the speed and altitude according to the instruments - and adjusting the speed to get it to track better then seems to result in the drop point being off.
KpaxBos Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) GREAT info. Thanks a lot. One small error (I am not sure). The device you call repeater compass on the right side of the cockpit, is it not rather a "radio bearing indicator" ? In CLoD one can adjust the lateral movement of the Lotfe sight to compensate for drift (and thus secure a constant point), I can't quite get it with BoS. That said, it still works exceptionally well.

[DBS]TH0R Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) Nice work! Should help anyone get acquainted with the bird and just shows how much easier we have it compared to old IL21946. In my couple of bombing attempts I haven't missed once. The wind info toggle in particular is excellent. Unless I got it wrong, we do not need to convert IAS into TAS? I wasn't bombing from higher than 2000m. Edited August 30, 2014 by [DBS]TH0R
Chuck_Owl Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 No, no need to convert. I did a similar guide for the Blenheim in CloD that included IAS to TAS conversions though. So far, we have a very simplified targeting system in BoS. I would kill for a bombsight in DCS though
Tompa_73 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Enjoy! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20586543/BoS%20He-111%20High-Altitude%20Bombing%20Guide.pdf wow! Exellent, downloaded to my tablet too. So many things I knew nothing about, the fuel-glider for one. I still have a long way to go for full realism... Amazed by the work this community does...
Malfador Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Great guide. I committed that I would learn high level bombing when I learned of BOS release.... Looks like I need to get started
Plurp Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Very nice! What you have as the visual homing indicator I believe is actually an autopilot indicator and it is functional. If you turn the autopilot to the left, your right thumb switch (on the yoke) and the indicator will go to the left.
Chuck_Owl Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Will investigate. Thank you for your advice, Torric. You are a monument, a foundation of the bomber boys on ATAG and I appreciate the fact that you took the time to read my work.
flugkapitan Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Thank you very much for putting this together!
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Dude this is quality work man! Im blown away!
