6./ZG26_McKvack Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 A He 177 is nice but it did not have a big role compared to the Ju 52 in stalingrad.
CCG_Pips Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) If I can give you my opinion, I should buy that JU-52 for me and offer some others to my squad friends !!! Edited August 30, 2014 by C6_Pips
Fenris Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 What's with all this hype about a JU-52? It's next to worthless in terms of practicality.... And you got people saying it was so Iconic we must have it, then we get people asking for paratroopers(Which Germany never did after the disaster that was Crete) I'd much rather have a BF-110, JU-88 the lend-lease planes the Russians received, DB-3(to match HE-111 in role) or basically anything else with a lot more functionality. I'm not against it being in game but it should be an extremely low priority for all the effort the Devs have to go through to put it in. And if so desperate for it why not go grab Flight sim X and fly it there, or IL-2: 1946... More practical planes first! 3
Rama Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I would also love to have and fly the Ju-52. Just because she's probably the most important plane for this war theater. She was the backbone of the german "sky bridge" attempt to save the 6th Army. Stalingrad without Ju52 is a bit like a Hamburger without meat....
1./ZG1_ElHadji Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I'd pay a lot for a Ju-52. Spent a lot of hours flying this in FS2004: http://www.ju52-3m.ch/ Would love to do the same in a combat environment!
BlackDevil Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Preordering is open ? I am in for any price !
4H_V-man Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Put me down for an Iron Annie, too. I agree, it was probably THE most important aircraft used at Stalindgrad due to supplying the encirlcled German army. Some were used as light bombers as well (I don't think at Stalingrad, but in other theaters). Recon aircraft played an important role as well, not just at Stalingrad but in practically all theaters. I personally would like to see at least one recon aircraft per side in the next release. Because of the importance of recon, if the devs could come up with some way to reward people for performing recon missions it could convince more people to perform those missions. I fly lots of recon in RoF simply because I enjoy it or to unlock desireable aircraft in a particular mission, but some people won't touch it because they aren't rewarded in 'points'.
3instein Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I think this issue goes to show the potential for these kind of aircraft, bombers, recon etc in this sim. A lot of people don't do the online part as most of the time it probably is just dogfighting. Most of the time offline folk like flying the campaign as they want to feel a part of the battle, doing stuff that matters apart from just furballing, playing the part of a bomber pilot or doing some recon with the extra challenge and acute danger of getting pounced on at any time really adds to the tension,if they can achieve points, believe they are making a difference and can alter the course of the battle then even better. I mostly just fly offline, very rarely going online, but I tried the SYN server a few times a few days ago and the feeling of flying as part of a bomber crew was actually pretty awesome, and knowing they were real people out there trying to find and kill my virtual life was really quite tense and really made my wee heart beat just a little bit faster. I think if these kind of planes come to this sim it would open up a whole new side to this already great sim. Cheers, Mick.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Despite it's historical role as the main horse of the Transportgeschwader the "aunt Ju" also is one of the most iconic classic planes with a greta civil carreer as well. It's great to see them still flying today and I can only recommend anybody to do so. It's a great plane that deserves to be remembered and kept running. Having one in BoS would just would just fullfill 2 dreams for me: 1st Flying this beauty in a modern sim with top notch cockpit and FM + 2nd enhance this great sim with a new iconic plane adding more exclusive gameplay (mission wise) with it's own attraction. No matter if it's cargo or Behelfsbomber missions to be carried on: Count my Ju 52 in! (just dreaming)
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Imagine playing a mission where you need to land supplies to Pito airfield and your teammates gets shot down and you are the only Ju 52 alive with just one or two engines alive and it all depends on you to give the german soldiers on the ground a little more time while the next wave of Ju 52's are coming. Imagine the feeling during the landing. Fighters are fighting with their lives just to keep you alive and your buddy gunner are spraying the mg 15. 2

The turn performance really impressed me; I've never seen an aircraft of that size pull such a tight turn.

Here some informations I got about Stalingrad "aerial bridge" units. Source "Aéro-Journal N ° 17" (french magazine) On 724 planes involved, 454 were Ju52, more than half of the total. Only 200 He111 were involved. Ju52 is essential for BoS. It would also be the first game 3-engines. Edited September 2, 2014 by Rama French translation

The Ju-52 is beautiful, but I'd rather have the illusion of the 6th Army first. Flight Sim 'worlds' are becoming more anachronistic in design as time goes on. 1
71st_AH_Hooves Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I know I already said my piece on this but man, last night we did this 6 ship Yak flight to intercept the Transports and it felt like the coolest mission Ihad flown in a long time in any sim, and that was even before we had found anything!! Then out on our 2 oclock co alt, there they were 3 HE-111 transports in column formation truckin to Pitomnik! We rolled in and tore those guys apart, I took a few rounds from their desperate gunners, but they were no match for 6 of us. As we rtb's we caught another two about 10k out of Pitomnik. ANd once again scored some kills! I salute those guys making those runs and appreciate the different style of mission we had to go on to degrade the German fighting force. IT was EXCELLENT. I now have flown both sides of this mission and can say without a doubt it is an awesome aspect of the sim that needs to be further expanded upon. Ok I swear Im done in this thread lol. 1
Freycinet Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 +1 for a Tante Ju! - However, I understand the developers' reticence about making one. I imagine it wouldn't sell too well. Which is why it should be part of a package deal!
Matt Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It would surprise me a lot, if the first new plane won't be the Ju-52.
Feathered_IV Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I must say it really is amazing to see how many people have taken to the challenge of the transport role. Even though the current setup is contrapted, rather than designed, without proper loadouts, scoring or loading/unloading elements, it's still great fun and has plenty of scope for development.

Id rather see a bf110 to match the PE2 and an il4 to match the HE 111. Im thinking the JU52 would be awesome to have if it can be done. But do the others first. The practical side of me wants that. The dreamer part of me wants the JU52 tomorrow lol..

Ok I swear Im done in this thread lol. lol on my transport flights (until I found the VOR) most of my time was spent: 1. trying not to burn the engines (and end up walking); and 2. trying to map read I didn't have any thought of enemy fighters! The above post clearly reminds me (or us) that there ARE enemy planes out there. Hopefully this should just remind our own jagers that: 1. you have to protect your 'flock'; and 2. the wolves will always be found going after the flock esp on this server because of the relatively easy pickings of small gaggles of He-111's flying without escort
VR-DriftaholiC Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Really could come in handy getting um.... supplies... 1

Pierre64 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I hope the "Tante Ju" will be available some day . Especially since I found this picture hidden in the "swf.gtp" crypted files?
PA-Sniv Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Especially since I found this picture hidden in the "swf.gtp" crypted files? This picture illustrates one phase of the Campaign mode. We've already seen it (and another of a Ju-52) in a previous dev update. I see it is a small teaser as well!
Potenz Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Lufthansa still has one in use in Germany, so there's where devs can get all the data
Wandalen Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Agree ! I love the JU52 Here i am at Duxford infront of a JU52 and a Dakota RNAF (click to enlarge)
Potenz Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Agree ! I love the JU52 Here i am at Duxford infront of a JU52 and a Dakota RNAF (click to enlarge) that's the last operational Lufthansa Ju-52
SYN_Blackrat Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) I snapped it last year at Duxford too MF__2040.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr Edited September 3, 2014 by SYN_Blackrat
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Lufthansa still has one in use in Germany, so there's where devs can get all the data Well there should be plenty of data availabel. It first flew in 20s with docens of it still flying today. The Lufthansa one D-AQUI does have different engines though, however there are still flying examples with the original license build Pratt and Whitneys. It was also exported to many countries worldwide and saw spread use all over the world so gathering data shouldn't be an issue . Edited September 3, 2014 by [Jg26]5tuka

6./ZG26_5tuka Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yea, maybe they should work on mission objectives like that! That would bring in fresh gameplay
Potenz Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 The Lufthansa one D-AQUI It's quite funny D-AQUI, in spanish "de aqui" means "from here", maybe it is on purpose
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 It's quite funny D-AQUI, in spanish "de aqui" means "from here", maybe it is on purposeProbably is. There's a Strikemaster in the UK called G-UVNR and a Pa-24 named G-UVNA. Probably could find lots of such things.
Mikey Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Does anyone know if/how many Lisunov Li-2 were in the battle for stalingrad? I know a lot of them were made and would be a good transport/bomber-multi-role aircraft for Russia if Germany gets a JU52

I would tend to agree with you, if the setting of this sim had been anything other than the Battle of Stalingrad. For Stalingrad there is just no way around the Ju 52. That's like saying you wouldn't want to model the C-47 for a sim based on the Normandy Landings. What's more, we're getting a new map that involves the Demyansk Pocket, which was the Ju 52s finest hour. 1
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Found a video about the encircled 6th army which include some Ju-52 scenes.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Ju 52 had important role also in Tunisia campaign...
