Felix58 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks Snowsniper for taking the time to put this together. I do like the big radial but find it harder to fly (well) than the Yak. I presume that the game version is the LA-5F? forsirovannyi (boosted) Cannot find info particular to series 8. Does anyone know if the rate of fire is modeled for each aircraft? The FW190 puts out heaps more lead that the LA-5.
AwesomeSprawvy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Thank you for taking the time to create this document.
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 18, 2014 1CGS Posted August 18, 2014 I presume that the game version is the LA-5F? forsirovannyi (boosted) No, it's the La-5.
snowsnipersnow_sniper Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Update : the "ground Loop" issue. To avoid ground loop "pirouette" when breaking on Runway : the key is to use fast yaw rudder input to correct the way, without breaking in the same time ok, but it seems not easily working. so ... I notice my stick was not well centered using Yaw testing it on dedicaced setting page. It does'nt come back centered when noise filter is active !: The Issue which could work for other aircraft too is to unshake "noise Filter" in "devices" . Now it is well centered when used and easier to keep straight on taxiing and ground breaking. resolved ! in Windows an other thing to do : use forcetest.exe ( http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/4133-picked-my-first-ffb2-did-i-get-lemon/?p=86581) check "Spring center" wich will make it well centered when you gently hang the stick . and Then do a new calibration of your Stick in Windows gamepad Properties. this was not centered when noise filter was active yaw sensitivity settings here Edited August 18, 2014 by snowsnipersnow_sniper

ACG_Smokejumper Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Thanks for this!! Very handy today learning to fly it.
5th-GIAP_Sytov Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Thanks Snowsniper for this excellent guide.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Wow, what a beautiful guide! I love those vintage drawings!
andyw248 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 What a lovely manual, I can't understand how I missed this for more than a year ... However, touchdown speed is 150 kph, not 170. If you touch down at 170 you will bounce, so make sure you flare until you have slowed it down to 150
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 8, 2016 1CGS Posted February 8, 2016 Something I have found that also helps with landing the La-5 is to use no more than 40 degrees of flaps. As with the Pe-2, using fully-extended flaps can cause a lot of problems with one's landing approach.
Cybermat47 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 As with the Pe-2, using fully-extended flaps can cause a lot of problems with one's landing approach. Stalls, I take it? That's the last thing I want when I'm barely 10 metres off the ground
Dakpilot Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Stalls, I take it? That's the last thing I want when I'm barely 10 metres off the ground I think the main issue experienced with full flaps is that you have greater workload in transition from approach to flare, due to nose down attitude and higher power settings due to higher drag, compounded by elevator authority On Pe-2 there is a small envelope of speed to work with in the final stages of landing, the real aircraft is documented as having not such pleasant characteristics in this phase of flight as well Having full flaps would give you a lower tall speed, but you will have to be much more disciplined and accurate with your flare and touchdown speed, so it is generally easier with half flaps Cheers Dakpilot
vanscov Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Does anybody knows where can I get the spanish version of this manual? please help!
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 How is the Forsazh activated? I would really like that extra engine power and I cannot find it in the controls.
1CGS Gavrick Posted September 17, 2016 1CGS Posted September 17, 2016 How is the Forsazh activated? I would really like that extra engine power and I cannot find it in the controls. Default - LShift+B. But it work only with 1st supercharger stage.
J37_Spyboy Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 This is very informative, thanks for taking the trouble to do it.
