DCS and ROF are moving to Steam, Do you want to this new Title to be availible on Steam?

From my Opinion yes, Its more Easy to manage and you have acces from all Pcs you like to have.

The update system is Easier and the News appears on the front page, also management of Pics, and support for Archivements and Trading Cards.

I don't care, as it will not influence the fact that i will buy the game, only once, either on Steam or on 777's website, depending on the opportunity of the moment I might say  :)

Well, 777 did go to Steam with RoFl just recently and from a marketing point of view, with the popularity and user-base of Steam, it seems like a must to also have BoS on there.

It will probably help getting the game a lot more attention so I'm all for it.

I agree, but they need to make CloD dead stock.

Imagine if a guy is new to flight sims and buy IL2:CloD before IL2:BoS since it's cheaper...

They can do it; there are some dead stock games on Steam.

Agree whit that, a message on the Product page showing that the Version is not Working or Abandoned will do the Trick.

Steam is good for sales, but I don't like it as online game browser, there is no comparison with the efficient, the semplicity and flexibility of Hypelobby.  If CoD would have been allowed to "really" interact with Hyperlobby, I'm sure it would definitely have had a  wider, faster spreading and a continous growing as well.

Steam doesent do nothing in the Online Browser. (exceptions like Some valve games) but they can do it for being not dependant of Steam in terms of Searching Online games.

I like Steam.

Easy to keep your games up to date and I like that I don't have to keep copies of my games. Any game I ever used with steam, it's always available for me, doesn't matter if I have it on my computer or not.

It's great for sales too.

I don't mind if it is availabe on Steam, but I do not want to be forced to buy it/activate it on Steam. I like the way it works now with RoF.

I would like to know 1C/777's official position on this before purchasing.  If they are going to release it on Steam but not give keys to pre-purchasers, I'll wait.  If it is a possibility to be on Steam, but purchasers from the site would later recieve keys for Steam, I'd get it right now.  Otherwise, I am still excited for this.  I'll be getting it whatever way, I suppose.

I love Steam and I think adding Il2 BoS to its collection would be a good thing.

If it means more people flying and buying the game yes I'm all for it.

Im all for Steam,

Everybody playing the same game with the same updates.

Hopefully it wont fragment into lots of smaller versions with home made mods.

In my opinion thats what killed IL2 46 multiplay, to many versions!

Hyperlobby is one of the main reasons most people never discovered was possible to fly online Il2.

I just wonder.. now that I ordered the pre order..  if they add  the game to steam..  will I be able to convert my  key to  steam? Or I shall need to rebuy everything when the de facto industry standard  distribution way is eventually released?

DCS just released all their products at steam and they just merged all keys from their homepage to steam, so hopefully it should work to activate your key in steam in the future. Technically it's possible.

Is there already an official announcement about the release of RoF and BoS on steam?

I thought 777 had said Steam was a non-option?

Necessary evil!!

Their are a LOT of negatives to go with Steam, but the overwelming positivie is "exposure".   :P

777 and 1CGS have stated that they have no plans to release BoS on Steam, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah i read this in one of the dev blogs. I do not know the particulars of steam distribution agreements and what not. But at face value it seems like a smart buisness decision to ensure that this bad boy is available to as many people as possible. BUT, again if steam charges an arm and a leg to distribute a title, i would go with what they (777, 1C) are doing now and just do as much internet advertising as possible with banner adds and what not.

I think Steam cut is around ~30%, RoF is already on Steam as a special channel battles edition, so I am thinking this release was a test bed to see how much exposure one can really get with a flight sim on the Steam platform. Probably not worth it from a business point of view :)

Steam's cut is much more than 30%.

We have not made a determination about BOS on Steam yet.

:o:

I stopped using them whenever possible because I thought their standard cut was 30%. Well that's what we gamers deserve (less money to devs => less money for development) for letting Steam get a near monopoly status.

Yes, at least there will be more people to fly with / against and it's easier to keep track of updates.

I'd like to see it on Steam, which could reach a broader audience. (that's how I picked up DCS)  Updates are managed pretty easily too.

If they do move it to Steam, please be sure to allow pre-order buyers to register their key there too!!

As long as it is not steam only, I dont care, if it would be steam only I would not be able to play it, and this would make me sad (but not sad enough to install steam:P).

Doing it like ROF is not a bad idea. Sell as many copies as you can directly, and after a year or two, launch it on Steam, to reach customers, you couldn't reach before.

If they do not package the game to be sold in stores

I hope it goes to Steam.

you pick up your Steam cards at EB games and buy it without hassle

you get all the updates automatically and you don,t have to fight with dl time server

interuption torrents or anything else for that matter.
