When I fly the IL-2 Sturmovik the pilot's center head position is way too far off to the left, like pressed right up against the cockpit glass. How do I move the default position to the middle of the cockpit? I use TrackIR if that helps....

thanks

I made a video months ago, maybe it helps

Hi guys, i want to ask if it is possible to setup pilot head position (to every ways) on the mouse right button? Like it was in other olders version of IL 2.

I am tired from the situation whan you must stil holding some f* buttons (home, insert etc)

I tried to reconfigure buttons like: move pilot head right (default is end button) to mouse right + x or y axis - it will be mapped in setup, but not working in the game :((

How can other players move with pilot head so smoothly (no youtube videos)? I doubt that they are still squeezing some buttons. They must control this moves by mouse.

Can you please help me with this problem?

Thank you very much :)

You mean "toggle FOV"  between 30, 70, 90 degrees in il-'46?

In Bo$ you can chance the FOV progressively with mouse scroll wheel, don't help?

I think fixed FOV keys is not available (unnecessary due the progressive option), but you can try create new snap views (saving in F-10) and with the keymaper JoyTokey function "Switch between multiple assignments" achieve the same result of the old il-2.

Most people use TrackIR.

Thank you Extreme_One this seems to be the best solution. But it is quite expensive for me - i just want know it is possible to setup pilot head moving to the right mouse button.

Like it was in older versions od IL (but was the fan patch versions)

No, I am am not from ČR, I am from ... Internet. :)

I still don't get what you want with this "right mouse button"...?

In il-2'46 to use "mouse view" - look around with mouse - one don't need press mouse button, just move mouse (or use JoyToKey to make HAT do mouse movement).

In CloD is need press one mouse button (middle or right, I don't remember) to momentary leave the "Independent mode" (ability to click over some controls in cockpit)

to move the vision with mouse.

In BoS you can do the same panning with joystick HAT - adjust camera speed if want - what plus a button to re-center the vision result in a easy "look around" after get used.

IMO at this stage of development are unlikely Dev's will introduce new commands in Controls.

So the better to do is get used to existent options. :)

Of course you are free for ask for new options!

BTW - Post in this thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/767-thread-gather-your-suggestions/page-7

TrackIR is expensive - specially for one outside of USA (In my corner of the world cost ~280$),

but with few money, some DIY work (LED assembly) and a PS3 camera you achieve similar POV control.

Look at MMtrack thread, basically is need a 8$ Pro Micro board and a 5$ Accelerometer (eBay prices) to move the (virtual) pilot point of view with your head movements.

Sokol 1 thank you very much for your tips and help. :)

I did not htinhk looking around - in this case i know that is only with mouse moving.

I thought looking (leaning maybe is better word) from sides and up and down with pilot head - witch you doing with buttons pg UP pg Down adn Home and End.

For example you can watch with pilot head outside from the open canopy... I do not want to press these keys each time when I want to lean.

In older versions of IL 2 (but it is was in fans patch only, like was Team Fusion etc) was mapped this lean function on the right mouse button holding and moving with mouse.

Ahhh! Side leaning... (I missed that in il-2'46 on mouse buttons, seems work like CLoD allow).

In BoS I set this in the second HAT of my "FrankenStick" - lean right/left and "zoom" in/out (TrackIR and my necks are not "friends").

Other option is HAT on throttle (case use HOTAS).

In CloD I test with the POV hat plus modifier (CLoD allow use any key/button as modifier), so HAT do two things: pan and lean.

In BoS, case use a joystick with pinky (little finger) button*, you can set this button as modifier (Alt/Shift/Ctrl) with external keymapper (since the game dont allow use joy button as modifier),

and set in Controls this modifier plus POV HAT (example Alt+POV HAT)  right/left for side leaning.

A "workaround" until they dont listen your request and set the option to use mouse buttons.

* (IMO) Is the only joy button that is comfortable to use simultaneously with POV HAT.

You could use one of the snap view from the keypad (e.g. KP0) for that. Reconfigure it with F10 for a leaning snap view when held down. Once you release the key, you get back to centered view.

Those custom snap views are very useful, even with Track-IR. I mapped one to glance at instruments and one for nose view.

Cheers,

"Glanced at instruments" is default mapped in keypad "," key, with proper angle for different planes cockpit,  include for Pe-2 top gunner - look at RPK-10 panel

and for belly/side gunner - look at movable MG ammo reserves box.
