Every time 12.OIAE is part of a group the mission goes well. It's always a pleasure to fly with you guys! :)

This is an excellent unit for anyone thinking of signing onto a VVS Squad.  You know that Mig3 is going to be awesome in Battle of Moscow, the VVS numbers should go up and this is a great squad to join.

Kommander of 12. oiae VVS KBF, Major Viktor A. Rozhdestveski. He was very popular among his pilots. Had two victories.

On 16.09.1942, while service test flight in new MiG-3, he spotted a Ju88 bomber. After first attack, he and his wingman were bounced from the sun by several Bf109's. At ~11:00 he was killed in his MiG, crashed near Zhikharevo, Leningrad region. In that combat, pilots of 8./JG54 "Green Heart" claimed 3 MiG-3 shot down: Ltn. Hans-Joachim Heyer, Uffz. Artur Stern and Fw. Alfried Dettke.

Rare photos of Rozhdestveski from family album are here.

This is outstanding information as I have struggled to find anything at all about 12.OIAE as there seems to be very little published in English about this Squadron on the Internet. I will try to incorporate this information into our new website as I build it. Many many thanks.
