Greetings Pilots!

before I post a bug report I'd like to know if any of you guys experienced the same issue with gunner control not working as it should.

I already tried the default settings, without joystick, TrackIR and every possible control option I could think of.

I can look around in the gunner seat but as soon as I take control over the gun, I can't move it with the mouse.

With TrackIR I can look around (I see a yellow dot) and everytime I press T to take control the gun rotates to the point I am currently looking at. This makes this gun unusable for me, apparently.

So if any of you guys could help me out, I can shoot down those swarms of LaGGs tailing my Stuka...or I have to rely on the random suicidal rear gunner in Multiplayer (some are actually pretty good in shooting down LaGGs).

Cheers and thanks in advance!

It should, but does not. No T key control. I can get into sights, but no movement with TrackIR, either.

Have a good at your control settings as I use TIR in the gunner position and using T works fine. With the TIR active, you can look around as normal which gives you a yellow circle where you are looking, you then slew the gun using the mouse .

Mouse control  for gunner work online - tested now o US - Expert server.

T = take the MG

Shit T = select aim mode , crosshair or "laser dot".

R = cook the gun (spawn in safety mode).

LMB = fire the gun

Offline:

Ctrl + C = go turret and back for pilot cockpit

BTW - the ammo is limited.

:rtfm:  :biggrin:

It does not work for me, neither online nor offline. I know all the key bindings by now but something does not work as planned.Mouse simply does not control the turret in control.

I fly ~6 times as rear gunner online.

In the fourth for some reason the mouse movement lost the POV of crosshair, and start looking at lower/left or seat...

This leave me only with "laser dot" mode to aim, that still controllable with mouse movement  - dot is not visible in video due hide interface.

Latter flights happen the same thing...

Managed to bind the keys. Had to unbind every keyboard head and camera movement and only bind the mouse axes to make it work. Seems odd. There should be ONE axis for pilot movement and ONE axis for gunner movement. Only binding gunner movements does not seem to work.

We have so many different camera movements that my head hurts.

I guess the interface and descriptions could use an overhaul. Burned half my sunday figuring out how to move the damn turret!

Necessary are two(!) different axes for gun sight view (which actually is used for not looking through the gun sight) and bow pilot (!!) head vertically and turn gunner head horizontally for gun sight view.

Way to go, Developers :D

I still can't get it to work.  Also, don't understand what you have said above.  Surely the devs could give us a simple guide on this!

Basically, I removed every key bind and mouse axis from camera operations and rebound them just with mouse axis as needed.

Here are three pictures of the commands you need.

I'm also struggling. I have a track IR and can look around, i can take the gun and fire it but can not move the turret with the mouse.

I can press T and get it to turn where my track IR is pointed but it's terrible. I just want to get it to work with my mouse. If I could still look around with Track IR and move the machine gun with the mouse it would be ideal.

What should I try?

i know pain in the rear but reset all to defaults; i am pretty sure it will work! now just redo your custom cntrls but dont touch views/gunner stuff..

No you can't just reset. The problem is the mouselook overrides the track IR inputs. Which is why you have to UNBIND several of the binding for head look.

Aaaaaaaaah.You figured it out. Thank you so much.

Again, if this game had been released with a manual, this wouldn't have been a question. But it wasn't. I also wasted the better part of a Saturday trying to figure out what happened, but I gave up. So thanks!

u r correct, except it really did not matter to me as i use mouse only when in gunner stations; can look around with TIR and move gun with mouse..i do recall it was implemented little differently in ju-87 and il2 in the past..

Hi,

I had this problem as well. the cure seems drastic. Does anyone know which specific key bindings are causing the tail gunner to be locked so the mouse can't move it?

Normally the gunner became "locked" because:

The "virpilov" when goes for gunner position  press:

Ctrl + C = Jump to turret

T = Unpark MG

Shift T = Aim

Then to go back for pilot cockpit he press Ctrl+C.

Now when he move for gunner position again press:

Ctrl + C = Jump to turret

T = Unpark MG

Shift T = Aim

But the MG dont move... because when he moves back for pilot cockpit he don't "park the MG" (T), so press T have inverse effect, as the MG are left "unparked". :)

Solution: press T 2 times, or just press:

Ctrl + C = Jump to turret

Shift T = Aim

Or use keymaper and make a sequential "macro" with this awkward commands. Press a button, in turret ready to fire, press again in pilot cockpit - just need invert the sequence A, B, C - C, B, A.
