taffy2jeffmorgan Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Hi All. I,v just patted myself on the back, when i first started flying BoS landing was a hit or miss affair mostly miss!! there where bits of 109 and Lagg all over the place!! But today I took off and landed all the German and Russian aircraft successfully, the odd bounce but all intact ! of the lot i found the Yak to be the most forgiving. What i like about BoS is that each plane whether it be German or Russian has to be handled that little bit differently. I found out the hard way that you cant fly, whether it's take off, landing or combat in BoS as I would have in IL-2 1946. Having patience and taking time especially in combat when turning in a dog fight is the way to go. Also leaving it to late when pulling out of a dive in ground attack, especially in the 109 is certain death! it's all a leaning curve as they say! Cheers. JM.
Finkeren Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Landing is for people who don't know how to conserve ammo or who chicken out too soon. 1

I think we all had to learn to fly again when jumping into BoS as the flight fidelity is totally different to what we were used to with CLoD and DCS. The build up of speed is especially well modelled and caught me out time after time. This and the general feeling of 'mass' makes this sim seem very realistic and how planes behave in real life so massive kudos to the FM guys. 2
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 If the Oculus ever happens it will be interesting to see how the feeling of space ( height, speed, distance) will change people's perception of flying, particularly of judging landing.
PantsPilot Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Landing's are something I'm usually not in a position to do, at least not inside the cockpit.

Well, any landing you can walk away from is supposed to be a good one, so I guess even a parachute landing counts. You remind me of a pilot of old who called himself 'Crater' because that's how he always ended most of his flights...^^ 1
siipperi Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Nice work! For first FM/ground physics were a bit off and landings/taking offs were a bit harder, but now I must say those feel really natural and not overly bouncy. Good thing that I haven't played vanilla IL2 nor Clod in years so I don't have spoiled myself with those horrible FMs. But speed and AoA are the keys here.
