chiliwili69 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 After 30 years of being a moderate and intermittent adict to flying simulators, these are my first rudder pedals! My old joystick had yawing in the z-axis, but with the Warthog I finally had to acquire pedals. Obviously it´s another world using the pedals versus twisting the joystick, but I can not make comments about comparisons with other pedals. Before deciding for these pedals I read several forums and finally I decided for the Slaw for five reasons: -They are beautiful -They are made of metal -They are precise -You can put the full foot -Multiple adjusts (3 Widths, 6 tensions, 3 brake tension, 4 pedal inclination) After waiting for a month, I made the order and in a couple of weeks the pedals arrived in a well packaged box. I just plugged them to the USB port and configure them in the BoS controls with no problems. I was thinking to fix them to the pedal metal base of the PlaySeat Revolution but the rubber bands under the pedals platform grip very well with the carpet, so no need to fix them to anything else. Overall I am glad to Slaw for his nice hobby of building these beautiful pedals. This weekend my limited skills to attack ground targets have been improved with the pedals, but at the same time the AAs are more clever now!! ;-)
Panzerlang Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Is there any way to screw them onto a base? And any idea how sensitive they are (how many data-points over their full range of travel kind of thing. I think the Crosswinds are around 4000)?
kestrel79 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 How wide are they? Would they fit under an Obutto Ozone gaming cockpit? I always wanted the Saitek combat pedals but they are too wide for the Obutto so I still use my CH pedals.
Slaw Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hi all, 525 mm is a max, min is a about 465 mm. I think that put them in obutto will be problematic. But not sure. Slaw.
9./JG52Ziegler Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Beautiful pedals Slaw, a big salute! They will not fit an obutto ozone as I have MFG Crosswinds (of similar width) and they work with the obutto rev3 but not the ozone.
chiliwili69 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Siggi, the base is a 2 cm thick polyethylene rectangle with no holes, but should not be dificult to make new holes if you need fixing it. You can also remove the polyethylene base and use the same 4 screws and holes of the central metal box to fix it to any other frame. If you don´t wnat to make new holes, another option is to use double adhesive Velcro wich could be as good as screws. Regarding the resolution I don´t know, but in the Slaw video you can see a range of -32768 to 32768: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3801659/2 In any case, I think that above 2000 points the diference would be negligible Kestrel, there is 3 holes to adjust the total width, but I think there is space to make a fourth hole to deduce more the total width. I believe it should not be very complex to make this small customization if requested....the total width would be then in about 425 mm 1
Slaw Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Thanks chiliwili69. The resolution is 2730 points. But most importantly, they are very stable. .........a fourth hole........I do not think so, but Some photos
Bando Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 It all looks indestructible. Great pedals. I cannot decide if these or MFG crosswinds are the best. I believe they're both very good pedal sets. Price is the same. Both are very sexy.
bigd0311 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've been using these pedals for about a week now and they are the smoothest pedals I've ever used. They blow my old Saitek Pro's out of the water. I can factually state that they've improved my game. I've got them mounted in an Obutto Rev and they fit perfect. The Slaw pedals definitely come with my highest recommendation.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I am confused looking at these how the center feeling is. Is there a cam somewhere? or is there a noticeable center feel?
Sokol1 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 This center system center don't use cam, it's like motorcycle gears lever. You notice when are on center. Sokol1
VR-DriftaholiC Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) yes but how does it feel? It's hard to imagine it seem easy to picture how the crosswinds feel. Edited April 19, 2014 by driftaholic
bigd0311 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 drift, I can feel when the pedals are centered. If I move the pedals slow, I can definitely feel the equivalent of a detent. However, the movement of the pedals from one side to the other is seamless. In transitioning from left to right rudder, or vice versa, I hardly notice the center. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer anything else about them. They are amazing, and built like a tank.

Right now I'm using CH pedals and also I have some G940 that came with my G940 package but I do NOT like these at all. I really like my CH pedals but they are way to close together and since I have kind of big legs, it gets really uncomfortable on long missions as I start looking like a frog (bowlegged) while in my pit !!
LLv34_Flanker Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 S! June is the month I will get either Crosswinds or Slaw's pedals. Time to retire my CH ProPedals from 1997, they have served me well and still work, but time to move on
