Hooves... I just got mine yesterday and it was doing the same thing. Needless to say I was quite pi22ed.

It seemed to have stopped for now (we'll see) what I did was hook it up to my SS usb "whatever they are".

I also heard a powered usb hub does the job. I'll find out later if this is still working for me.

I'm running 7 see below.

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of buying the X-55 soon.

From the pics in the beginning of this thread i can see the throttles use standard variable resistor potentiometers. Any of you who used it for some time experienced any spiking?

I got x55 two day ago

I happy about 4 Rotary input  which one  rotary I map to trim stabilizer for BF109 which have me a lot for control energy state.

I have one problem for map key  Lshift + G  ( lock tail wheel )   in programming tools  with TG1 switch ....  it turn to be G  only when I map to

IL2-BOS control setting,  can any one success for mapping key like this ?

I don't "buy" why a joystick button need press a key that will do something in games, preffer that joy buttons just do something direct in games.

Main reason for me is that it allow you to program stick for some flight sim without ever touching in-game control settings.

This is very handy when game Devs decide that some update needs to override all settings or you simply take a longer break and delete game. It happened to me few times with ROF that for some strange reason settings got corrupt and reverted to defaults (mostly when I messed with some mods of flightFX, can't remember now but something like that). Boy I was glad then I had CH and that I have programmed everything without touching game settings, fix was as simple as reinstalling game clean and up I was flying like nothing happened.

Won't even go into advanced stuff like making both your toe brakes act as same one regardless which you use or any other such more advanced scripting some of us find useful on occasion.

Also isn't it nicer to be bale to bind stuff on your hardware by playing action like "fire all MG's" to a button as opposed to getting in game and to see joybutton2 on your 'fire' command in game and then go, yeah, button2 of which device exactly?

Do you mean in the Saitek software?

I posted a solution here.

Essentially you have to create an advanced macro and make sure you hit Lshift before pressing the 'G' key and you release the Lshift after releasing the 'G' key.

With a regular macro it will press and release the Shift and then after the G, so it reads the G only because the shift has been released already and it won't work.

This method is valid for all those keys that need Ctrl, Shift or Alt.

I hope someone can help me with the software.  it never seems to recognize I have my stick and throttle plugged in and the one time it did I spent the time programming my keys and it seemed to work good when I reloaded it all my keys were gone and it was back to not seeing the devise.  I also could not program the rotaries on the throttle witch was a huge bummer no matter what I did they would just not work in the game.

Thanks for sharing the links on the tester, i did a few tests with the precision tester, doesnt look too pretty. I tried to do slow controlled circles.  The black area in the lower middle left is there it likes to center.

Looks pretty bad but i imagine they get much worse?

yeah, that is pretty bad.

i can draw with it now :)

Long story short.. i would not buy the x-55 again (go for x52pro), unless i would intent to mod it (which was not planed, but it was what i did after the disapointment anyways,).

Has anybody come up with a stick extension for this device, yet?

I really, really need one but have no practical way to go about prototyping/producing one on my own.

Doesn´t matter...

I make it simple for you guys:

I owned many different joysticks ..latest the X-55. To be honest, i would NOT buy the X-55 again due to its low quality plastic gimbles (has play and thus produces off-centering results).

So the X-55 is ONLY good for the buck if you mod it - like shown above...

And the Warthog is ONLY smooosh :) if you do that:

Comparing the purchasing AND THE modding efforts (price) for both in total ... the Warthog would be the smarter solution, which you can
get for 310 EUR meanwhile: http://www.redcoon.de/B243166-Thrustmaster-Hotas-Warthog_Joysticks-Flugsteuerungen?refId=pla&utm_source=base.de&utm_medium=SEA&utm_campaign=cpc&xtor=SEC-35&gclid=CjwKEAjw456hBRDQ4eqg8MzA2W0SJABI2gJ8sBX28_yqx-regYzOU0fxsh1L0xmdUxKiaW_EfTy-2xoCbpXw_wcB Edited by A-S

What if you dont wanna buy pedals?

I thought the Warthog didn't have twist for the yaw.

That just keeps adding to the already high cost of the Warthog. I'm sure the quality and feel are amazing though.

I contacted Saiteck about a stick extension and they have no plans of making one any time soon. Iwas even trying to just let me buy the parts but they are made in China and they dont ship the individual parts over. And of course the connectors are proprietary so no dice on picking one up at a hardware store. Thats such a bummer too, as this stick is perfectly setup to have an extension. But without those porprietary connectors, a hack job is all I can think of to get a stick extentsion.

:/

I've been considering it... Just pulling the default gimbal, exchanging for a metal gimbal and finding a hackish way to extend the wiring/lower portion of the stick. Obviously, that would affect the default installation of the spring...

Do you think copper rods positioned to correspond with the default connectors, suspended in some type of rig, would pass the signal? IE. 9 copper rods pushed through foam, inside of a threaded shaft that screws on to the base of the stick and base of the unit would work? The 5v that passes through USB drops off at a certain point, do you think that would be the case with the stick as well? Just a plain ol' passive extension... I can't think of a better conductor than copper rods, but I could potentially jury-rig a prototype using foam/cardboard tube/copper rods just for testing purposes.

I do have a 3D printer available to build out the final product...

Kind of hard to explain... Like I said... I'm no good at prototyping. I hope you get the jist...

Id think prototyping a connector would be easier than using rods all the way to the connector, but I must be misunderstanding your design.

This whole thing would be easier just getting the threaded ring, the and the two piece plastic threads. I suppose if you could get the thread pattern and "print" that, then you could also "print" the threaded ring. Then you could create the connector as well.

I really just wish they would let us buy the parts.

I have the x55 as well, Im using the in game settings to config the x55 I see your trying to use the Saitek profile software I'm wondering why go this route when all functions seem to be easily configurable in game I have great success reprogramming for the x55 in game. Is their some advantage of doing it on the controller side only?

To take a stab at your question the Saitek software has the option of adding a modifier to any command this should take care of the combo keys for the game.

Where did you find the info to do this?  I have been looking for a good programming source like the HUD software manual that I can not find. Any help would be appreciated.

Just wanted to say I got my X55 this week and I am very mixed about it. The throttle is great but the stick is very "meh". Its too large and bulky imo and worse than that as others have stated it has serious sticking problems. Often it will move smoothly and then suddenly stop/stick and then violently break free as more pressure is applied due to the seems on the stick lining up or for some other mechanical reason. Also the tension of the stick doesn't increase as you move away from the origin, which I think it should.

Use the lighter springs and some silicone Teflon lube on the spring shaft and lower cup. Works great after that.

If you're having issues with the controller, make sure you have it plugged into a 3.0 USB port otherwise it will be under powered and you will get random key tranmissions

I've also heard a powered hub helps for those lacking 3.0.

3rd grade was the hardest four years of my life, so when it comes to adding hubs, it was daunting.

However after spending about $30-$40 for the hub, two hours in time, (Disconnecting everything, installing the hub and running the sofware) it was worth it.  Still have a ghost isuse here and there but mainly with the E1 and the "Pinky Rocker"

Posted

Tried connecting to a 3.0 port but there are still random presses. Only buttons and switches on the throttle though, many of the switches highlights in the programming software after pressing another switch. Only 1 at a time though, pressing another switch will make another one highlight or make the highlight go away. (not the one im pressing though although that highlights too of course, I hope it makes sense)

Also, I cannot map any of the rotaries except Rotary 4 on the throttle base. (Yes I bring them through their full range of motion both ways)

I've read somewhere that USB hub with external power helps ghost key presses.

It seams that X55 is using the same hall sensors as T16000 and Warthog and that precision much improved from x52/pro. But the hotas itself is less weight than both. All in all not that bad for now. Well see the durability.

Just what I needed to see.....  I may have one of these in my future. I had an X-=45 which was my first stick mod inspired by Sokol .. When that died and i couldn't scrounge up parts I got an X-52 and then I modded that .... I am seriously considering getting an X-55 down the road just to mod it since for me nothing beats my MSFFB2 joystick.

Thanks tikvic....every bit helps.

I'd sure like to know, how it is in game?

IL2 BOS and IL2 1946 and Cliffs.

I really have more interest in the Throttle than I do the stick.

Me love my MSFFB long time...boom,boom.   ;)

X-52MF_zpsf4e2a3b8.jpg

I use my X-52  with the FFB2 ... a match made in sim heaven.

X-55 switches are not "toggle" - ON-OFF or ON-OFF-ON - they are "momentary" - (ON)-(ON) - have a spring that force return to center when released.

If used to turn cockpit lights, is need move Up to ON and move Up again to OFF - since down is a different button (awkward... but despite DCS most games dont handle well real "toggle" switches, his command table are most in 1 press key/button - like the cockpit light example).

Sokol1

Like the switches on the X-52 throttle... Looks good though..

Anyone willing to share their controller profile for X-55? Of course partially personal preference, but would be interesting to see. Have you made use of the 3-way switch in the throttle? (M1/M2/M3)

Hiya.... just upgraded my Logitech to the X55. The game however does not respond to it. How do I get it to recognise the X55? Ive installed drivers and software and calibrated it in windows.

I had no issues. It picked mine up right away. I have heard some issues with the x55 being plugged in to USB 3 ports. Check that.

You have reassigned the axis and buttons commands for the new joystick?

The game dont do this "plug-and-play".

I eventually got it installed. Like you said, Sokol1, I had to reconfigure everything. What I also realised was it assigns Joy0 to the throttle unit and Joy01 to the actual joystick.
