Pharoah Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 hi guys quick question - is there a way to speed up changing the RPM on the PE-2? Currently its bound to individual keys instead of an axis however the process of either inc/dec RPM takes forever!! surely there's a quicker way than tapping it 100 times. Am I missing something? Thanks
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 There are 2x Pe-2's in game so 2 ways to do it. For the Pe-2 s 87/110 (1942 version) I have mine bound to a slider so it's dead easy. Works the same as in other planes like the Yak-1 or LaGG-3.On the Pe-2 s 35 (1941) I have mine on a key but I find that holding it down moves it, so I don't have to tap it 100 times. It did really catch me out online a couple of times because you can't get up to take-off speed unless it's over 75 or so.
Pharoah Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 i have it bound to a key as well (its the '35 model) but even holding it down is a real pain - surely there's something quicker

Guess thats why they got rid of it in the later series.

I would love for the I-16 (and incoming F4F) to have to spam the g letter like it was in 1946 to deploy the landing gear, it was really tedious as it had to be pressed like 50 times lol Edited November 30, 2016 by SuperEtendard 1

Definitely had a few nice carrier approaches ruined because I forgot how long my gear was going to take back in the day. 1
GridiroN Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 The P2 s35's rpm is synced to the throttle last time I checked.
216th_Jordan Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) yep, I actually loved having to push that button on and on. I agree that a constant pushing would be sufficient. Problem right now is that you can do 1000 other things while your plane automatically lowers or rises its gear. I have not yet understood this decision as it contradicts other decisions like these rpm switches on Pe-2 (they could have left it on an axis then). @GridiroN: Not sure if I get you wrong, but: no its not synced to the throttle. GridiroN Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 @GridiroN: Not sure if I get you wrong, but: no its not synced to the throttle. Weird. I only ever flew it for campaign, Maybe I made some weird control config. Ill check it out.
Pharoah Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 well if thats how it was IRL thats fine. I just wasn't sure whether this was done accidentally or whatever. I have it bound to my ch throttle quadrant (one of the switches) but the constant up/down gets me worried I'll break the bloody thing. Whilst I'm all for realism, clicking RCtrl 1 and RCtrl 2 for the engines to magically and automatically start kinda kills it. I'd prefer they have it where if you hold the key down, the RPM goes up quicker than 1% per second or something as it currently is. I taxi at 100% RPM (short taxi) and take off at 100%, then reduce after climbing and run at around 70%. I only bring it back to 100% on landing however holding onto a key for that long whilst having to switch to manage flaps, gear, etc is a pain hence my question.
216th_Jordan Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Can you not press the button continously? Maybe its better to map it to the keyboard then.
Pharoah Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 you can press it about 3000 times a minute, but it will still only increase/decrease at say 1% per second. If you hold the button down, still 1%/second.
