Inconsistent pitch/yaw controls for turrets

Recommended Posts

As explained in this thread, the horizontal / vertical control of the turrets current use the same "bow pilot head vertically" and "turn pilot head horizontally" (so pitch and yaw) settings as the camera view. And it only works with the mouse, not when using TrackIR or another virtual tracking system.

It means that for all people using a virtual tracking system, they cannot use the mouse to control the turret because mapping mouse X and Y to those settings makes the head jerk whenever they use the mouse, for clicking and so on, in normal conditions outside of the turret mode - I had those problems at the beginning, searched the "key mappings" for the cause of those jerky movements, and found out that I just had to clear those two mappings. But then, it wasn't possible to control the turrets, and I was wondering why...

Also, TrackIR is slowed down when controlling the turret: it doesn't move the turret, but it is as slow as the turret, as if only part of the code was active.

=> Would it be possible to have two independent control sets, for the camera view and the turrets, instead of one?

PS: "key mappings" is also very confusing, it should be called "device mappings" really, to avoid confusion with the other menu entry related to the control devices. After all, the analogue axes and buttons are there too ;)

Hey Redglyph, I do not understand your problem ( must be my english)

I use track ir,

Like you, I find that the "lean to gunsight" + "take control" position is slowing down the trackir view , with some inertia.

but I can use the turret, moving it with the mouse AND use my trackir view at the same time.
