LLv34_Flanker Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 S! Just shows that G forces have no effect on the gunning. Making negative G pushes would throw off your aim, same with extreme pulls. But nice defence anyway
Lusekofte Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) Good shooting, and if G forces was to be applied , you will not see many bombers around. With no defense what so ever , I am sure like me, people think hey got better things to do than being target practice for BF 109´s. This is not war , it is not drafted men, you got to give a little for the gameplay itself, if not I am afraid you will sit in a pit among other BF 109 and do nothing Edited October 1, 2016 by 216th_LuseKofte
Monostripezebra Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) S! Just shows that G forces have no effect on the gunning. Making negative G pushes would throw off your aim, same with extreme pulls. But nice defence anyway At what timecode do you see high G, positive or negative, during the firing? I fly with the stick left hand while shooting mouse in right, and I shoot mostly while straight, because you can´t hit shit during hard maneuvers... try it. Edited October 9, 2016 by Monostripezebra
JG5_Schuck Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I don't like the zoom view, totally unrealistic for me, But great respect for manning your own rear gunner rather than the 'sniper' AI. Nice one Zebra. PS. Who attacks a Pe2 from dead six anymore!!!! 1
Felix58 Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Nice vid. I understand that the actual gunnery technique is to aim between the tailplane and the target, because of the speed of both aircraft. Obviously this is not modelled in the game. I understand LuseKofte's point, it is a game and probably not all players would be interested in such detail. Still, I think it would be nice to have this in game to show the challenge that gunners had in the day.
Monostripezebra Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Nice vid. I understand that the actual gunnery technique is to aim between the tailplane and the target, because of the speed of both aircraft. Obviously this is not modelled in the game. having to lead the target is very well modeled and thus certain shots are hard and others are easy. It´s all in the vector difference.
Felix58 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Mono, re your technique in the gunner seat. Watching the video, I have the impression that your method is to place the cross-hair on the target and fire. From my experience in-game this is the correct technique for the game, not IRL. I won't labour the point, but if you are interested have a look at this document. An extract from a manual of the time and gives a good explanation of deflection shooting, fighter pilot versus gunner technique, then compare that to in-game. http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ref/AirGunnery/SIGHTS.html#S3
Monostripezebra Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) look, I´m not new to this and if you think it´s point and shoot.. just try it yourself Hint: it´s not, except for when it´s piper on target in real life, too: at low angular difference. When people hang on your six, you can shoot straight. Simple as that. Edited October 10, 2016 by Monostripezebra
J37_Spyboy Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 (edited) Mono are you related to Dr Zebra in RoF? Edited October 13, 2016 by Spyboy
Monostripezebra Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 He is Dr. Zeebra's evil alter ego it´s a Jekyll-and-Hyde thing. We got separated at birth. https://youtu.be/oSX6OjHydRw
Trooper117 Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I enjoyed the video, good stuff... far better than the relentless campaign to show us how to crash into things.
