Phat Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 And the most important improvements.... A new Chair Mount setup. A pair of $70 fully articulating Vesa tv mounts - better than a $900 gaming chair! Super ergonomic and fully adjustable - really comfy in my favourite chair! It has allen key bolts for tightening the tension of the articulating arms and a knob to tighten the tilt which is on a ratchet so it doesn't droop or move once set. Only one more side to do for throttle. GrendelsDad Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Do we have a show off your cockpit thread around here? If not this should be it. Nice work Phat!
TP_Jacko Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Looks nice, What is the spec of the TV. I forgot that devicelink was available on CloD when did ghat happen. I always thought udspeed was an excellent app.
Phat Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Looks nice, What is the spec of the TV. I forgot that devicelink was available on CloD when did ghat happen. I always thought udspeed was an excellent app. The 4K monitor is an Acer CB280HK 28" with TN Panel - awesome for $500AU. Display port 1.4 and HDMI 1.4 inputs - I'm obviously using DisplayPort so I can use 60Hz 4K (Have SLI GTX1080s to drive it) The DLP Projector is a Benq W1080ST 1080p short throw projector with a custom made 120" spandex white on black acoustically transparent screen that I made so that the front audio channels can sit behind it. It can do full active 1080P 3D too at 24hz though I haven't tried it with either BOS or CLOD. Seating distance is 3 meters so right on the minimum distance for dot resolution - If I look super hard and lean forward I can just see the pixels - Pixels on the DLP projectors are a bit closer together than LCD so the screen door is far less detectible. Team Fusion wrote a plugin for devicelink a couple years ago. Still a good following in Europe and US for CLOD. A lot of us also own BOS and spend time between the two games. UDPSpeed never worked with CLOD but yes it was good in its day for IL2 46. The main reason for sharing this was to show what could be done with an office chair and a bit of Aussie ingenuity. I couldn't be happier with the setup. Edited September 15, 2016 by Phat
Phat Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 New Saitek X56 HOTAS arrived. Awesome Stick. Much better feel and build quality than my trusty old X52 Pro. The internal build quality is light years better - don't know what all those interweb haters are talking about with this stick. I took some photos to compare the internals and it's night and day compared to the grubby and messy x52pro wiring. Internal Stick and Throttle cables are nicely secured and bound neat and tidy in nice loops that flex as you move the stick/throttle . No chance they'll get fouled or damaged. I've got them all mounted up to the chair with the VESA mounts no problem. I like the lightest feel blue spring. I'm able to be much more accurate with fine movements, particularly with Gunnery fine aiming movements. Better feel just off centre without that sticky off centre feel compared to the X52pro and the heavier springs. Love all the extra pots and new buttons compared with X52pro (I have old X52 too) Like the thumb joysticks too but haven't got a use for them yet - maybe for gunsight zoom but haven't tried yet. It's really comfortable for me, though I do miss having some extra normal buttons on the stick which have been replaced with extra hats which are bit less comfortable to reach. Throttle definitely has a lot of resistance, but it's smooth and feels like you're pushing something powerful. It's not a problem mounted to my chair but I could imagine it being a bit slippy or tippy on a desk without being secured.Definitely awesome having all the extra pots for trims and engine management and the toggles for engine, fuel, magnetos, gear, reticles, flaps etc. I liked the x52 and x52 pro and they gave me 12 years of trouble free gaming with thousands of hours of use... I love the X56, it's still an early love affair but I hope it's got the quality to go the distance. Flying_Colander Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Phat, Great idea with the VESA mounts for your HOTAS. I may pinch that. Also browsed over to the Overclockers site. Sick, sick set up, mate. Well done. Flying Colander
Ala13_Kike Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yes, a very good solution for hotas, today I will try to copy these system with my Pc chair
Phat Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 I've added some tablet mounts to the X56 to hold two tablets and Logitech wireless media keyboard. SYN_Mike77 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Thanks for sharing! The next time my wife says this is getting out of hand, I'm going to pull up this thread for her!
ER*Wumme Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Hi Phat, great simpit ,!! I enjoy my projector 60 " too. But I hope at the end of this year the modders will present us update TF 5.0 and we can fly in VR. Spotting enemies is much more difficult, but the immersion in VR is unbeatable, Horrido
Phat Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) Thanks I love it! I'm saving up for a Benq W11000 DLP Native 4K projector - should be about $8K aussie and come out in December. Better contrast and black levels than the entry level Sony 4K projectors and sharper picture too. Also better than the fake pixel shift LCD projectors. Cant wait! Added some remote control RGB LED backlighting and room lighting to the room too. Click the pic to go to the Flickr video.Led by Hilton, on Flickr Edited October 26, 2016 by Phat
lolantana Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I am so envy on you for the preparation of the game, how about that feeling? I am also considering about getting a 4k projector for the game and movie for my family, I believe it will bring much fun for both of us. Would you please share the details like the contrast radio and brightness to me about the 4k monitor you got?
