From Jason...

''You want DX11 we are working on it.
You want VR in the plan.
You want new planes and new maps, in the plan.
You want new features and tweaking old ones, in the plan.
You want a more hardcore direction, in the plan.
You want more community input into the product like mods and other content, in the plan.

Just wait to see overall plan and details and you'll understand that we are trying extremely hard to make players happy, but I can only do so much with so little. That means we need time and time is money. The team is willing, as they always have to go the extra mile. They need your support.
''

Have to say I like what I'm hearing, there was also his other comment a little later...

''Our hard work plus your support is the only way we can keep going to cover all of WWII.''

That is a positive statement that the game will not just stay on the Eastern Front!
These are the most encouraging words I have heard, this gets my vote!

He covers a lot of my biggest concerns, particularly the mod support.

I'm not sure why the recent change of heart, but I like what I hear.

Looking forward to more info!

I'm going to guess that their big meeting recently was one of those moments where you sit the team down and have a frank discussion on the successes and challenges from the past and then determine what changes can be most beneficial in the future. The thing that we have now that we didn't two years ago is that the series now has two established entries which are fairly solid in their own right and that gives a strong base to work with.

I like what I hear as well. They seem to know what they were doing - I hope they are able to keep focus like they did in Stalingrad and Moscow and stick to whatever the plan is but bring us some cool new stuff along the way. A tightrope act if I ever saw one.

I'm looking to hear what they have planned too!

Yes, great news all over, hopefully they get the greenlight soon and we can hear about all the details.

I cant find the quote/thread but he also mentioned some sort of surprise improvements nobody expects, now im intrigued.

They will have my money regardless of the plan.

BOS/BOM is the best WWII Air Combat Sim out there in my opinion.

I'll put the money down for anything that comes down the pipe. Whatever it may be I want to see this project succeed.

I really want to spend more money. Hopefully some positive news on some fo the FMs and ill buy EVERYTHING that comes along.

But there really needs to be at least something in that regard.

Posted

I too will buy what they put out...only because they have earned my trust by being the best at what they do!

I agree. They've earned my trust also. I also believe they've followed through so far on most everything they've told us would be done. I'm positive the mentioned forth coming improvements will make it that much better. Very encouraging announcement or hints maybe. Still much to be fired up about.

I'm sure this has been mentioned a few times.  I think one of the biggest impacts to the game would be to make it easier to build missions.  I think this what kept IL2 1946 going strong over the years. There was a big MP crowd which always wanted more content.  Of course I'm excluding the Mods but you get the idea.

New content new maps great but getting the attention of new people via a MP community would go a long way.

My 2 cents

Once you get get acquainted with the editor and compare it to others out there you may come to to the conclusion that it is quite good and powerful. You can ask it to do almost everything under the sun internally with no external scripting snips, like other sims. There are also many examples posted over the years for folks to look at in several threads, you can also feel free to ask questions there about anything you don't find answers to. There are many helpful folks around. I can't guarantee I will have the answer but you can shoot me questions as well. Edited by roaming_gnome

The ME is actually not that bad. A simple mission is very easy to build. I dont expect the team to build something like the ARMA 3 Eden mission editor either.

The only real concern I ever had about this sim is communication :o: not only the fact that they have been bad at it in the past, but the bad way community handled it.

I am stunned they do listen to what we say, and they do respect wishes from the community, first the JU 52 and now this, what will be the next a PO 2?

Should get interesting between now and X-mas.

I have the cover off and I am staring hard into

the cookie jar to see what is at the bottom but,

I did not reach in just yet.

I would enjoy flying a PO-2 in this realistic sim. That would be great because of its low stall speed. #ProStrats.

Sounds Good to me . ~~ Once the sales hit ill buy the P-40 and 202 .

I see how Jason is listening and communicating, and in the mean time working hard to make this wonderful sim better.

I am quite amazed. I am sure that he will get what he wants in return.

Not only am I grateful for BOS/BOM, but I'm also very appreciative of the work that they are doing (last updates were awesome, I mean, do you remember that moment they got us on 64 bits?).

Very happy to support them, will keep doing so.

Jason's statement in the DD Today? thread;

We will announce some smaller developments tomorrow.

I'm not sure why the recent change of heart, but I like what I hear.

Why?  Because Loft has left the team.  Thats the big news but no one seems to be picking up on it.  As series producer what we have up to now is essentially Loft's vision.

Now the dynamic has changed.  Hopefully we'll get more of Jason's vision.

It has been said. I definitely like the change in direction the game seems to be making as I didn't understand or agree with some of the previous decisions. However I wouldn't say anything bad about Loft as I'm sure he only wanted the best for the game and I'm pretty sure he was a big force in getting this game started up.

Loft did much of the early heavy lifting. We owe him a great deal of thanks. I don't agree with every facet of his vision but he laid a hell of a foundation!

Thank you Loft for all you did for us!

Loft has left? I'm sorry to hear that, I wish him all the best.

I'm excited to see where the game goes next. I'm hoping for New Guinea, but frankly, I'll be fine with anything if it has aircraft

It all sounds very promising indeed.

I'm also pleased to see how responsive the community has been considering we don't know anything about the forthcoming theaters yet!

There's always a few that revel in being a negative Nelly, but they will succumb once they see some more progress I'm sure.

As far as WWI and WWII sims go, I think Carly Simon said it best.  ;)

Loft is working on a new internal project that is not a flight-simulator. He's happy and working hard. None of this, ROF or BOS/M would have happened without Loft. I only helped him stay in business when the chips were down. He is an amazing producer and I consider him a friend. Whatever you don't like about BOS you can try to pin on him, but all that you DO LIKE in ROF and BOS is also Loft's work and he should be remembered for that above all else. I've worked with Albert for 7 years and we've had our differences and some monster arguments, but I respect him. I think he respects me also.

The team also respects Loft and he is still there in the office with them, just working on something else. The team was missing a leader so I volunteered. It takes much focus and energy to make a flight sim reality. I have been resting up the last couple years analyzing everything so I am ready to give it my all until I fizzle out some day.

It's not related to IL-2 and I can't comment on it and neither can anyone at 1CGS. That's all I can say sorry.

I will say, it's pretty awesome you've been so communicative over the last ten days or so, Jason. Thanks for that as well.
