Well I am a big fan of the SBD 3 Dauntless Dive-bomber and its crew, and the Helldiver, Kate  with its torpedo . Colored with the long and tedious offline campaign in IL 2 I said no earlier. But I think I change my opinion.

I really would like something else, But for my sake I would be happy if we got qa tad of the osean and mountains. Like caucasus or Murmansk

There you go:

I'll settle for the one in the background, or wait for the next one, thank you very much :)

I have bought everything so far but rarely play.  I have been trying to support this thing to get to some aircraft carriers.  Another round of Russia would be hard to endure.  I'd settle for the Med but Pacific is what I really have been waiting for.

Yes I've had enough of the eastern front... Fighting over Malaya, Burma might get my interest, but I think the only real pacific fight I'd like to see them take a bash at is Guadalcanal, Cactus Air Force etc...

But then again, Africa/Med is still my main bag :)

Honestly, no, not at all.

With that being said, I'll stand behind Jason and the 777 team no matter where they choose to go.

Well I think you must be the most positive thinking person in this site. BOS and BOM is Russia, The developers have never ever said anything going west or south, they have no obligations what so ever to go anywhere else.

But there are changes in the air, For those stating that this theatre will be sea and more sea. You are wrong. The small maps and characteristics of this game will put it right where there is a lot of land, like Philippines . Marianas and such.

This site is priceless when it comes to negative feedbacks, I think a little give and take from both sides is for everyones favor. If we get PTO it might bring along more flyers. I think theatre will be the one bringing most new people. I do not mind more Russian maps, but it sure as hell will not bring new players in.

I think it would be wise go for New Guinea or Pasific, for the sake of numbers

I can't see any poll along the top there, but if there was,  I would be picking the " I will support whatever the devs come out with,  and don't care what theatre it is in" option.

I don't see his post as being particularly negative. He has stated he supported the theaters he wasn't interested in to get to a point where the Dev's put something he is interested in on the table. I find that rather admirable, actually.

I can go East one more time with the expectation that my loyalty and development dollars will take me to those other points on the compass as well. I've enjoyed the East but long for greener (and bluer) pastures with as diverse plane sets as they can muster.

And while they don't have to produce anything, the previous series visited most points on the compass and the inference is they intend to follow this development to that logical conclusion. As long as the money flows, expect they will.

I didn't read 216th_LuseKofte's post as a criticism.  Just to clarify, though, I am not coming from a "Russian front is boring, I'm only interested in US planes" mindset.  To me, the Soviet aircraft are fascinating and one of the great things about both IL2 series has been the opportunity to learn more about them.  We have a very fine medium-altitude ground-support arena right now.  My main interest, though, is naval aviation and anti-shipping attacks, and there is not much opportunity for that with the present maps and plane-sets.  Nor is there much scope for massive high-altitude bombing strikes and defense, day or night, for those who are focused in that direction.

To a large extent I am more collector than player in the present game.  I am going to buy all the releases and experiment with X aircraft versus Y aircraft without regard to historical encounters.  I will continue to do so as more aircraft are released. But if naval aviation becomes available, I will be a collector *and* a player.  I will buy all the Blackburn Skuas and TBD's that are released and wear out their little radial engines carrying payload.

As an aside, I wonder how necessary it is to provide enormous, accurate theater maps with every release.  If that is slowing down the release of aircraft, I would rather have the aircraft with smaller, skirmish maps.  I would be happy to buy theater maps as an add-on, like the Channel map in RoF.

As a not native English person I will be misunderstood, I was referring to him as a positive thinking person, and the other stuff is more the general impression of the many negative  opinions.

All I have to say is, the bottom line is , if you want more people to join BOS we need to be part of this . It is us that create the community and it is us new people look at. And too many post ,even not meant as anything else than good meaning , very negative and in general bring a lot of negativity.

I fully believe the Pacific Theater would out-sell BoS/BoM by a very large margin.

*Especially if they did Mid '42 - Mid '43 as a starter.

I'd be in a P-38F-15-LO or P-38G-1-LO for sure. And I'd start up the 475th FG "Satan's Angels".

It would be cool to fly 'America's Stuka', the SBD-3 and drop a 1,600lb bomb into an IJN Carrier.

I think the perfect start up set would be:

Allied  US/UK/NZ/AU

  • P-40N
  • P-400
  • F4U-1 (Birdcage)
  • P-38F
  • SBD-3
  • TBF-1
  • B-24D
  • ---B-25C *SPECIAL*

Axis   IJN/IJA

  • A5M
  • A6M2
  • A6M2-N
  • Ki-46
  • B5N
  • Ki-21
  • G4M
  • ---Ki-67 *SPECIAL*

Looks a bit like a mix of apples and oranges. There is A6M2, A5M and there is P-400, P-40N, F4U-1 and P-38F. Also, Ki-67 entered service in mid 1944.

Isn't it supposed to be a poll?

Anyway, no from me. It would be like Eastern Front, but even harder to relate to. If there's anything more repetitive than flying over these endless Russian plains it must be flying over the ocean, and US/Japanese naval planes are completely alien and uninviting. A terrain that's interesting to fly over and planes I care about would be welcome instead.

Well, that all depends what place and time you have in your mind. P-400 was used in 1942, P-40N was a later model and if I'm not mistaken they were used in late 1943 and in 1944. P-38 F is a late 1942 aircraft.

Tell me a place and I can figure something, there are plenty of aircraft around. Some are rare, others were numerous in various campaigns. And best part is that either for Allies or Axis you have more than one branch to choose, unlike with the Luftwaffe where choice is between one o nine, one nine o and nine one o (see what I did there !).

I'm more interested in torpedo and dive bombers. No foghter could beat a TBF Avenger or B7 Ryusei to me but a Ki-61 + birdcage Corsair would be nice to have. :)

I like the attack planes, too.  An easy first step into this would be the P-39 for Russia, with a P-400 variant for the Pacific.

That's a huge spread. Only fights going on through that time were in China, Burma or New Guinea. That's also critical time when sides switched in their roles, attacker became defender and defender went into offensive.

@up Technically yes, but P-400 run same or similar V-1710 Allison and I'd expect more complains added to already existing about P-40. Also, P-39 was a rough aircraft to handle. But then again, where is the fun where everything flies like 109.

I've actually received some time ago translations of Japanese manuals for carrier borne aircraft, in particular on escorts, interceptions, dive bombings and torpedo attacks. My favorite is certainly Judy for that kind of stuff :)
