=AH=_Sid_ Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) This is only for anyone running SLI on multiple Nvidia cards (possibly only if you use a triple screen setup, i.e. "Surround"). I loaded BOS yesterday and was a little disappointed to find I was only getting 12fps on my triple screen setup (3x30" screens in portrait (Res: 5160x2560) running off 4x WC Titans in Quad SLI). The same setup runs ROF at a steady 60fps. I had a play around today and I've found an interim solution that gives me 60fps in full screen at 5160x2560 running BOS. Warning this is entirely at your own risk, don't blame me if it doesn't work for you, or worse still, screws up your system. I figured BOS probably didn't have an official Nvidia SLI profile yet, so I thought I'd try using the ROF one. It turns out there is a profile for the "Il2.exe" but I'm guessing this is for the original IL-2 Sturmovik game or not optimised for BOS yet, either way (for my setup at least) the profile for "ROF.exe" works much better with BOS. Here's how to change it. Open NVIDIA Inspector (Download it from Here if you need it). Scroll through the profiles to find "IL2 - Sturmovik". Use the red cross in the top menu bar to delete it. Accept the warning. Scroll through the profiles to find "Rise of Flight". Click on the "Add application to current profile" icon (small box with a green plus). In the window that opens navigate to the "IL2.exe" file in your current BOS install location. Check "IL2.exe" is listed in the green top line of the Rise of Flight Profile. You can now close NVIDIA Inspector and whenever you start BOS (run the IL2.exe file) the ROF SLI profile will be used. AS I said above, this is entirely at your own risk, don't blame me if it doesn't work for you, or worse still, screws up your system. FWIW, I'm using the latest GeForce R331 Game Ready Driver WHQL 331.82 November 19, 2013 driver that was released today. Edited November 19, 2013 by =AH=_Sid_ 1
Yazh-29 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 It's ok, but do not forget to enable SLI (nVidia in the panel configuration) when you reinstall the new nVidia driver.
AcesHigh Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I'm getting 12-14 fps with drops to 1 and 2 frequent. Just upgraded to Nvidia drivers released today but made no difference. Trying OP's fix now.

Trying OP's fix now. Well your suggestion doubled my frame rates, now getting 22-26 consistently. Thank you for that. I'm confused though as others with lesser or similar systems are getting 60 fps in triple screen. For some reason I'm seeing less than half of that. Thanks for the good tip =AH=_Sid_, at least the game is playable now.
=AH=_Sid_ Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Something else you can try which I forgot I had done before I did the above. Find your "startup.cfg" file in the BOS\Data directory, open it with notepad. Manually Edit three lines "mgpu_compatible = 1" "ssao_res = 0" "ssao_samples = 0" Then Save and Close. See if that gives you further improvements. Note: If you play about with graphics setting in game it will overwrite this file, so in order to keep these changes you'll need to manually edit it each time. I'm having great fun now I have the frame rate sorted. 1
AbortedMan Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I've been asking this a lot on the forum, but has anyone gotten rid of the jagged lines/lack of anti-aliasing in the higher multi monitor resolutions?
=AH=_Sid_ Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 I've been asking this a lot on the forum, but has anyone gotten rid of the jagged lines/lack of anti-aliasing in the higher multi monitor resolutions? Have you tried playing about with the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel? There's a performance hit with these, but Antialiasing Transparency works well with ROF.
AndyHill Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I've been asking this a lot on the forum, but has anyone gotten rid of the jagged lines/lack of anti-aliasing in the higher multi monitor resolutions? No luck so far. The post processing options in the config file that cure the problem in RoF apparently aren't functional in this alpha.
Relix Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Thanks for the tip Sid I too was getting 12 fps with sli, now I get 50-60 with sli enabled using your inspector trick running 2 780's in sli and the 331.82 drivers at a resolution of 2560X1440 still only using one gpu, the second one for some reason
SYN_Skydance Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 When I first launched BoS it ran with at less than 10 fps. I disabled one of Nvidia graphics card and it then ran smoothly running on only one of my GTX 580. I was surprised how well it ran on only one card. I'll enable the second card when BoS supports it in the graphics set up option.
AndyHill Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I think one of the problems might be that despite the seemingly nonfunctional multi-gpu option the game actually tries to run it anyway and fails. Disabling the other GPU (for example by going windowed mode) can help a lot with framerates. 1
Static Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) Two 980ti's in my system now circa late 2015, still no proper Sli support? I have used many different profile sets via NVi & can only get either GPU to only switch roles as what GPU is going to render the game. Vsync is still borked, on will render max frames to 60 even at 100Hz 1440p with a frame limiter via Afterburner of 101, fl disabled in the settings. When I used two 290x' crossfire would use both GPUs but the fps seemed like it was only running one 290x. Edited December 24, 2015 by Static
SharpeXB Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I'm running SLI and it seems to work fine. Both GPUs are running.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 BOS has now its own profile - you don't have to do it like OP did - i'm right Sid ?
FuriousMeow Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 SLI is fully supported, look at the original post date. Details. Static has a system specific problem.
Static Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 SLI & Crossfire are borked in IL2 BoS. All the games I play even some beta games Sli works fine. It is not a problem with my system, it is a problen with the ancient engine they keep milking. Also there is a problem with vsync & any resolution at 1440p and above.
SharpeXB Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Also there is a problem with vsync & any resolution at 1440p and above. I'm using the in-game Vsync at 2160x3840 and it works fine. In order to use Vsync through Nvidia CP you need BoS to be in Full Screen.

I should of stated there is a problem with using 100Hz refresh rate/ SLI/ Vsync @ 1440p. Of coarse I am running the game in fullscreen mode when using dual GPU's Edited December 26, 2015 by Static
Static Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) Vsync is definitely not working properly. I'm testing with a single 980ti with vsync enabled @ 80Hz & the frame limiter set to 80 & i can't get higher than 62 fps. If I disable vsync and the frame limiter I get 90+ fps. Of coarse I am running the game in fullscreen mode when using dual GPU's I'm matching my 60hz monitor with Vsync. Yes 2x Titan X cards do very well, but I'm running a UHD monitor so they still get worked pretty hard, plus in any situation with lots of other objects your FPS will be limited by the CPU. In cases like that the second GPU doesn't give any benefit.

My CPU is more than capable of driving my second GPU, a 3930k @ 4.7GHz is more than enough. Ancient API & engine is the issue with newer tech, as more & more people are getting into panels that are capable of more than 60Hz these days. The beta of DCS world works fine with SLi & vsync @ 100Hz as it uses DX11. Test 60Hz SLI with no vsync please & post the fps you get. Thanks! Edited December 27, 2015 by Static
SharpeXB Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Here's some tests I ran a few months ago. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15855-who-has-geforce-titan-x/?p=258966 These are done with Vsync off so you can see the frame rate. Notice how in the Free Flight mission there's a difference between the single and dual GPU modes. But on the "Dive Bombing" takeoff with many planes there's no difference. That must be due to the CPU bottleneck.
