If...

Nice formation flying guys.It was really tough to get close to you under the fire of so many MGs. And the misson looks simple yet very clear for everyone to know what to do. I like the ''patrol area''  feature on the map. See you around, hopefuly soon  :salute:

EDIT:

Yes,there was a 37mm zenitka at Kubinka AF strip. But not much of an obstruction.Take off was fine.

Congratulations on the server :)

Very nice shots Asgar, that sea of tracers looks intimidating. Who was the brave hero doing a rocket attack in the Pe-2? :o:

Thanks a few people mentioned that, I thought it had been moved.

Intimidating indeed. I climbed to 9.5km (couldnt get higher) and patrolled the area over town of Istra and its " Zavod znameni truda i vodky".

Did that twice, catching first larger group of Ju88 ( 5-6 together) and tried some slashin attacks from up above and down below. I forced one of Ju to spill some smoke but then got pew-pewed by MGs. My windshield got black from oil and I had to disengage and land half blinded at Pavlovskoye AF.

Second space flight at 9km went in simmilar way. Ju88s in formation of 3,doing mostly vertical zooming from below to avoid gunners. Got one smoking and losing fuel from tanks, but eventual some MG bullet found its way to my mikulin and my MiG started to burn. Bailed out and enjoyed the sightseeing during my descent hanging in parachute. Klaus,I hope you did glide well back to your homebase  ;)

On both Missions I went from twin to single to glider within 10 Minutes. Alive through all, and on the friendly side.

Hehe. Good to hear that you made it back home. Do you guys plan such sortie also tonight? I would gladly join to work on my antijunkers tactics ;)

I'm not sure yet. I think one more big test would be good. I would like to see the server performance with 40 people in. After that it's back to the grind stone and start working on missions. This is just a generic test mission so we could see the Moscow map and BOM only plane set while we were testing the server load....it's hard to keep everyone enthusiastic when you force them to test every night :D

The plan is to create co-ops as we used to run them in the original IL2. One plane per pilot, one flight (no respawn/refly or possibly some respawns for the defending side) and everyone taking off at the same time. I'm also going to remove the target icons, each side will get recon pictures instead and I can put the zones on the map like I did for the VVS patrol areas.

All in all it was a very successful test especially considering it was so last minute thanks again to everyone who joined

Completely understood Emil. If you will need some volunteers for testing, just drop the line here. Good luck with the work on server. I enjoyed yesterday's sortie a lot ;)

Will do....also Wednesday was a bad day as there is lots of other stuff going on. Originally we were going to just do a closed test, if we do another open one we should do it on a night it doesn't conflict with other people's missions. So if our guys aren't all tested out maybe we could do another one tonight.

I'll let everyone know soon

Thank god for Custard!!

It seems like the AI gunners in the 88 are a bit terrible....they like firing their guns, never hit the enemy and don't mind if they shoot each other....possible bug?

I had very limited time/attention but for the duration of time that I was on the server things were running rock solid.

Thanks Space_Ghost.

I switched my engines off by accident when I was typing to you last night, when I got them running again I blew them both :D

Note to self....never write any words in chat with an E in them

What I meant to say with that "pro tip" is that taxiing the 88 when you're sitting in the bomber's seat makes forward visibility a lot more manageable.

**OK we will run another open test tonight if anyone wants to join**

I've moved a few things about to make the battle more centralised.

Hopefully we can get 40 people online. If the server can handle 40-50 people then I would say we are good to go and I'll start building co-ops.

If anyone wants to help or even just fly around on the awesome BOM map in Migs and whatnot please join....

I will change the map to autumn for this one.

ZG26 tends to get airborne just after 20:00 when we can get organised and stop chatting about rubbish on coms....so any time after 20:00 for the sadists that like shooting our lovely bombers....be warned though we might have some 109s this time :D

Yep we do that as well....it is especially important on some of the BOM taxiways as you can clip the caponiers with your wing tips if you aren't carefu

This is what the map will look like now

Before selecting an airfield it's blank

LW Side

post-10861-0-41132400-1460040760_thumb.png

VVS Side

So rather than seeing icons you will see a target area, it's not hard to spot the targets I just prefer this to the icons.

Sorry for tonight, had a button kept sticking on throttle quadrant and major mouse issues which made it hard to do some things...

Any way blundered around a bit in a Peshka and maybe helped a bit with numbers

Thanks for the effort

Cheers Dakpilot

Thanks Dak. Think I approached this all wrong. Testing a mission at the same time as the server load was a mistake.

The mission design is just a place holder for a co-op but doesn't work for a server load test.....something more like fighting legends would be better. People dont want to fly around for 1hour and not see targets, that's why we were giving our location all the time last night.

Thanks to everyone who jumped it to help though. It was really appreciated.

Whenever you need a helping hand, let me know. Ready to burn some more fuel and chase my contrails up there at 9k  :salute:
