coconut Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 This caught my attention in the thread for questions to developers: Juri_JS, on 11 Feb 2016 - 14:25, said: Would it be technically and legally possible to add some 3d objects from RoF to BoS? For example barbed wire and tents. Also the RoF Type Ae observation balloon is almost identical to the balloons used by the Wehrmacht in ww2, only a new texture would be necessary. It's allready is. No problems. Same as in RoF. I found this on the ROF forums: http://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/31847-rof-buildings-and-blocks-sdk-available/ It links to http://www.riseofflightdemo2.com/ROF_SDK/ROF_SDK_Buildings_Blocks_ENG_Public.zip Unfortunately, the link in the post is dead. Does somebody know here to find that file? Jason maybe? 1
SYN_Haashashin Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 HI coconut, I will ask SYN_Vander and SYN_Bandy since both of them built some stuff for RoF using that SDK. Will let you know something. Cheers
SYN_Vander Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I tried this once, using the 3d converters for RoF, but the objects didn't show in BoS...?
Juri_JS Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Wouldn't it be necessary to give any 3rd party 3d objects to the developers for official inclusion into the game, because we don't have a mods-on mode, that allows adding such objects on our own? Edited March 5, 2016 by Juri_JS
coconut Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 Wouldn't it be necessary to give any 3rd party 3d objects to the developers for official inclusion into the game, because we don't have a mods-on mode, that allows adding such objects on our own? That's what I thought, but Han's answer would seem to indicate it's not needed. I thought I would try it, and if I couldn't get it to work, then ask the devs again. I tried this once, using the 3d converters for RoF, but the objects didn't show in BoS...? Was that a long time ago?
Sim Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Found the mentioned ZIP in my wardrobe - download link. Although not sure if the same principle still works in BoS.. (as you would need a "mods on" mode to include and enable your custom-made objects). Edited March 5, 2016 by Sim 2
Jupp Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) ~S~ Fellows, Way to go, in raising the dead (me who just claimed retirement in my mission thread) with this issue. I had the same thought Coconut, but then considered that someone reported the UnGTP program no longer works with BoS as it did before a recent update. So without being to place the models into the appropriate areas of the program, have the pathings, calls, and whatnot also addressable, then no There is no short order way, no matter how talented a reader writer you are, that you can make use of RoF assests in BoS/M without illegal brute force, .etc An amendment to modding would have to be conceeded for this to ever become an operation like in the days of porting MS FS98 objects into CFS and .etc There is no sky, ~S~ -Jupp- Edited March 5, 2016 by Jupp
Sokol1 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 This answer indicate this, but how? Sokol1, on 11 Feb 2016 - 11:04, said: Is possible add to ME some signal plates for mission makers use for help people do taxi - actually many don't follow the taxiway and therefore claim that not know where taxiway are... So they ask for bizarre solutions, perhaps difficult to implement - resource intensive, like a ground crew walking in taxiway for plane follow, a modern airport "follow me" car, external camera on ground, etc. Something like this: Yep. 3rd party is awailable to do this.
SYN_Haashashin Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I remember Zeus adding a Xmas tree or something similar for DED server so somehow it's possible. I will contact the team to see if I get an answer about it.
Juri_JS Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I had the same thought Coconut, but then considered that someone reported the UnGTP program no longer works with BoS as it did before a recent update. For me unGTP still works in BoS. Just a few days ago I've extracted the scripted campaign missions.
Brano Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 It would be about time to allow skilled 3D modellers to contribute. I remember the horse towed artillery from RoF,it looked fantastic. And moving infantry. They were a bit "robotic" in animation but really fun to watch them moving across noman land. I can't wait for such features in BoS. Strafing marching infantry or seeing cosacs cavalry charging
Juri_JS Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 What I really would like to see in BoS is the German AE type observation balloon from RoF. The balloons used by the Wehrmacht were almost identical, only a new texture would be necessary.
Brano Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Well, there are so many ground objects/vehicles/weapons/humans missing that only fantasy and time are limits
coconut Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 I looked at the zip, it's a plug-in for 3d studio max 8, which I don't have. Not much use for me, sadly
coconut Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 For me unGTP still works in BoS. Just a few days ago I've extracted the scripted campaign missions. I get (most of) the file hierarchy, but the content of text files is mangled. Maybe the version of ungtp I'm using is old, have you downloaded yours recently?
Juri_JS Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I get (most of) the file hierarchy, but the content of text files is mangled. Maybe the version of ungtp I'm using is old, have you downloaded yours recently? I've just rechecked unGTP and you are right, there seems to be something wrong with extracted text files. I can also no longer open the extracted campaign missions in ME, though it worked before the latest update.
