I'd like 1C to go for anything. Have we heard any indication that they'll support VR?

Han has already said they wanted VR (http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/7-questions-developers/page-44?do=findComment&comment=347700). And Jason has also said HTC had sent a Vive to help them get there. That wasn't very long ago, people just need to be patient. I doubt we'll see anything before autumn, it's going to take them some time to work through their TODO list now that BOM is done before they get to upgrading the directX version and adjust the engine and settings to support constant 90 FPS.

adjust the engine and settings to support constant 90 FPS.

An Herculean effort, I surmise  :salute:

Also, the resolution is just not ready yet, I have played DCS with my Vive and can read my gauges barely, but there is No way to spot enemies out side the cockpit without tags, and even then its frustrating to not be able to gauge those little details, like which way the plane is oriented, or even what kind of plane it is (tags off).

I agree the resolution of these HMD's still isn't good enough.  That said most VR users find it difficult to go back to monitor simming after the VR experience.  Do you have the Rift as well, as most flight sim devs and users with both headsets prefer the Rifts comfort, display quality, and ATW software for smoother gameplay in sims like DCS/FSX.   Also the Oculus SDK has a pixel density adjustment that much improves the perceive display resolution of the Rift.  This setting is adjustable, with the higher setting obviously dependant on the power of the users particular computer system.   This makes the reading of gauges much easier, but I'm not sure how much it improves spotting distant plane orientation etc.

edit....that said, I'm not sure how this pixel density thing works....doesn't any display have a set number of pixels?  I understand that the Rift and Vive have the same resolution with the same amount of pixels, BUT the Rift resolution appears better because the same amount of pixels where put on a smaller display, with less space between pixels, which explains the less SDE.  BUT I'm not sure how this jiggery pockery Pixel density option works.

Just ordered my HTC Vive. I thought I might wait until IL2 added support but I play Elite Dangerous as well and after watching more reaction videos of regular joes trying it out, I could not resist. Common 1C & 777, looking forward to seeing IL2 in the virtual world.

Edit: I received my HTC Vive yesterday... WOW this thing is as good as advertised! Can't wait for IL2 support.

I plan on trying it out tonight. :)

Following the instructions, anytime I attempt to launch IL2 it never launches.  Anyone able to get it going?

Same issue here unfortunately. When I launch IL2 it launches Steam VR, then quickly crashes...

Still no reports seen of anyone getting it working yet. I haven't seen any acknowledgement of the issue from the developers yet either.

Pretty annoying. I've got a 1080 here waiting to try it out lol! Such a tease.

Managed to get it to load but yes like someone else has said it's basically an unplayable quick test at this point. Menu is too close, mouse is buggy. No way as far as I can tell to center yourself in the seat/view. The current implementation seems very strange, its not 1:1 movement but acting almost like a Track IR or something where your full movements only have slight effects in game, (very disorienting). Also the scale is completely off; everything seems tiny, including your plane and seat.

Okay, second patch. Now the scale is better but there is no head-tracking ...

so will there be no update on VR until DX11 comes out? and if so i assume that will happen when BOK comes out which is when? the end of next year?

It's very possible that the DX11 and proper VR support comes before that, in the alpha stage.

Everything should be ironed out by launch, which means they will probably make it available to those in early access.

Since this covers BOS and BOM too, i'd guess that we would all get a patch when they think it's ready.

i truly hope so. iRacing just got Vive support and it literally makes that game a must have for any vive sim enthusiast.  It literally changes the ballgame for sim gaming.

Following thread closely.

I'll probably jump in when the Vive 2 comes out in the future.

Somewhat worrying: http://www.techspot.com/news/66230-latest-steam-survey-reveals-sales-vr-headsets-grinding.html

Hopefully the PS4 VR will sell well. Price is obviously are real problem. Not everybody can be as successful as Apple selling expensive electronics.

That or maybe people were just enjoying the sun in August. I know I'm holding on for a purchase until days get dark and cold... I'd also love to try one before buying, to figure out if it suits my eyesight without glasses, or failing that if I fit can my glasses in them.

Yea I just bought this game because I heard it support the vive, but I can't get it to work, I've followed the guide on steam, and I keep getting a DXGI_STATUS_OCCULED Anyone else able to get the game to run with their vive?

There is no VR support yet, they are working on it. Be patient ;)

The priority for the dev team has been to implement the Dx 11 API.

They will now concentrate on making the graphics better and support for VR will be there as well.

It'll take a few months I believe.

It worked before the recent update, not perfect but it did work. Now it doesn't.

That's probably because the change from DX9 to DX11 disabled the "hack" that made it work. Next time it will work properly.

Hi everybody, I'm new to BoS.

I've just spent several hours flying BoS with my HTC Vive, despite it being so terrible now due to the very low head tracking update. Probably it may make vomit in seconds someone not used to VR. Still for me it has been a blast. After so many months flying DCS in VR I'm so happy to be able fly something different.

Please, devs, just make it work a little better and I'll be in heaven. Just a little bit better.
