How do I turn off AI chat boxes in game?

Does anyone know which 'Action' in the menu relates to turning off the AI chat messages that keep popping up in game? I have tried switching off the HUD but that doesn't work - the messages are driving me nuts!

I know what you mean. AI speech routines are the worst part of the game. Originally we were told they were placeholders. Later it was announced that there were no plans to change them. The only way to get the grinding repetition off the screen is to press the H key. However this removes all other text and symbology too.

This is worst in MP, all time a window with "I'm wounded!" appears.

With the last update when I try the game in MP I stop to search in the house what electronic device are making a constant "trim-trim"...

Only in a new section I realize that game settings are reverted to default and the noise are the announce of MP chat...

The person who built the current AI speech system really deserves a wedgie.

I don't mind the radio chatter, it's the message boxes on screen that are the problem. Pressing 'H' does not get rid of the messages!  :(

Looks like you dont have H mapped to turn ON/OFF HUD -   "Show/hide entire HUD" ...

H (HUD) OFF should clear the screen, or remove all overlay information  - CHAT, Tekchat, digital instruments.

With H (HUD) On but "I" (instruments) OFF you continues to see the CHAT message box.

For offline flying I add P (pause) to  "Show/hide entire HUD" - so at start of every mission the screen is clear.  :)

Ok that worked great, thankyou!

I had the HUD on/off set to shift-H which did not work. Its REALLY annoying that switching this on/off also turns off the compass so why cant the devs just make the compass, map and HUD have separate key bindings?  :(

I think the kill feed is beyond annoying. Even pressing H you can still hear it. Especially when someone just dropped two 1000kg from 100m with a 15 second timer; all you hear and see next is..

"Beep beep beep beep beep.."

"SoAndSo destroyed building"

"SoAndSo destroyed building"

"SoAndSo destroyed building"

..75 times in a row.

Deactivating the interface sounds will deactivate the annoying beep sound.

90% of Charlie's problems stem from him messing about with the default keys, commonly known in the squadron as Charlieing :D

In Russian forum at least was explained that change/add in "radio" system is not possible because is need re-write the code involved... No chance.

"In any case, changes in the radio traffic is not planned, because "be appended," it is not possible - it is done once and for all. Only a complete rewriting it can "supplement".

I'm all for a complete rewrite then.  The present system is the most annoying and inflexible out of any flight sim on the market.

Imagine what it would be like if a future expansion includes English or American voices...   The crushing repetition would destroy you.

I fully agree. Unfortunately "annoying and inflexible" seems to be the house style....  (graphics options, campaign difficulty reset, skins in campaign....)

I must say thanks Sokol1, for all of the key bindings you have suggested under the "less keys is better" mantra, I use, and they all work a treat.

Cheers bud,

Mick. :)
