SYN_Mike77 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Do we need flaps for take off and if so at what angle? And of course, thanks for all of the info above! 1
Matt Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 If you are heavily loaded (bombs+full fuel tank) and don't want to use boost for take-off, then 10°-15° flaps can help a bit. But i usually don't find them necessary.
Weegie Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Wow fast off the line there Luke Many thanks
Bando Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Thanks Luke. Do you have any info about the temps?
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 22, 2015 Author 1CGS Posted December 22, 2015 Thanks Luke. Do you have any info about the temps? They should be about the same as the Il-2's.
Bando Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Ok, thanks. I'm trying to put together a sheet with all relevant data from all planes. It includes temps, rpm and manifold settings at T/o, climb, normops, emerg and landing, as well as different speeds for different ops. It's quite a bit of data to wade through, so I'm glad with all the help you provided so far. Edit: The rocket control panel is also for the bombs. Edited December 22, 2015 by Bando
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 22, 2015 Author 1CGS Posted December 22, 2015 The rocket control panel is also for the bombs. Good find!
Ace_Pilto Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Ok but where is the stick for beating back the horde of hot Russian women who will inevitably congregate around me when I land anywhere in this thing? 1
71st_AH_Cujo Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Ok but where is the stick for beating back the horde of hot Russian women who will inevitably congregate around me when I land anywhere in this thing? It's beautiful, isn't it? I was googling for check list or operation notes for this plane, but no luck.
BeeKing Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Thanks LukeFF. I'm so glad that you make these for all the new BOM aircrafts as they come out. Maybe it would be worth mentioning on the first post that increasing the mixture will allow higher manifold pressures? Just a suggestion.

I've been thinking of doing a spreadsheet as a ready-reference if one wants to hop into an aircraft that one hasn't flown in for some time and one doesn't want to have to have a few test-flights to re-learn all its peculiarities - I was thinking of the following: Tailwheel Lockable or Not? Torque To the Left or To the Right? Take-off Flaps position x% Rotation Speed xxx kph Landing Flaps position x% Landing Approach Speed xxx kph Touch-down/Stall Speed xxx kph Individual wheel brakes Yes/No Standard Armament xx mm Cannon xx mm machine guns For those who are into CEM, there would be a load of other things to tabulate eg max radiator temp etc One can get a lot from Chuck's Manual but, of course, that dealt with the BoS aircraft and not the BoM aircraft.
Picchio Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Thanks. One question: does anybody have a flight manual for the MiG-3? Of course it would be great if it was translated, but I won't say no to other languages.

Picchio Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Mastiff, in case you're quoting the OP in replying to my post, my question is a bit different.
Trooper117 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Yes, good info from Luke... but it's not a flight manual is it. Picchio is asking helpful users if they have a 'manual' ' Cant help you with this one mate... I have loads of flight manuals, but the Mig info is a little scarce
indiaciki Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I just found an original russian manual (haven't looked much) I thought I should post it. https://vk.com/doc67707672_396900430?hash=4914ea38fdce1d6c3e&dl=4f6acbd1e92eb6b03a

Sokol1 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 The linked above is a descriptive manual, not a flight - or "pilot notes" - manual, may not useful in "game world"... 1
indiaciki Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I haven't found a pilot's notes. there must be some out there since there are even instructional films for the il-2 and the yak on youtube. The one I posted is a short technical.

HotPursuit Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Thanks for the guide LukeFF. My tacho reads 2075 rpm with fine prop pitch, even in boost mode. Is your listed 2175 rpm a typo or am I doing something wrong?
