You know the RoF model. A couple of planes may come with the basic download, which may or may not be free to play at launch, but if you want more kites, you will probably need to buy them. Either singly, or in bundles.

So make your pitch here for which plane(s) you want!

Use this thread to try to persuade other simmers to your choice.

(If you want to debate the RoF cash for content model, you should probably start another thread...this isn't the thread for that debate.)

I can't chose just one. Plus, There isn't a singe one of those planes on your list I would want to see omitted.

I-16 thanks very much.

There's already a lend-lease poll. Having those aircraft in this one only muddled things up.

P39 every time! I've read some reports it was the Soviets favourite lend-lease plane.

guys, we all know, mig-3 are very beautiful in total airplane, with not bad performance (especially with am-38)... in ideal condition:), and even with good weapon... in some sence:), if we about different rockets, bombs, 2 ubs or 2 shvaks, but in fact and RL plane was SO problematic, and if about stalingrad, at spring-summer'42 was SO old what after mig you will find lagg s29 like la-5fn... ;)  really, think i'm at 99 right, and even not need to read very secret documents or something like this...

much better, of course, except p-39 or p-40 or even hurri, something like ordinary la-5f type 39 with low gargrot, or yak-7b with low gargrot/yak-1b, or just yak-9 (if i'm not mistaken, exactly on Kuban 9s were used in adequate numbers) plus yak-9t...

but where these planes in list?

Well,  I don't know how players are voting on the  European and Eurasian BOS forums and I can't read too much into a poll anyway, but, so far with our poll, the Mig-3 has almost as many votes as the P-40, so you are not alone in liking the Mig-3.  :salute: MJ

p.s. If the team ever makes IL2 BOM, I am pretty sure I will be longing for my LaGG-3 Series 29, especially when I am performing ground attack missions with a Mig-3.

I voted for the MiG-3-15. That is just a sexy plane all together.

The Mig-3 is a real looker, that is for sure. I have to admit, the LaGG-3 may prove to be all the challenge I need in BOS multiplayer, for years to come. There are Bf-109 specialists, with over a decade multiplayer experience, after all. Still, I hope that I am one day good enough to hold my own in multiplayer with a Mig-3, in an Il-2 BOM add-on. Right now, as I fumble about with my LaGG-3, against Bf-109 AI, that one day seems very far off.

:salute: MJ

P.S. Did you watch this video, yet? The test pilot said some really positive stuff about the Mig-3, though he is an expert pilot and he can get the most out of her: http://youtu.be/_wTZjYGyl-4

The Mig-3 AM 38 has the same engine as the Il2, right? Hey, that might be pretty interesting. A great looking plane with a powerful engine that is adapted for low to medium altitudes sounds very promising.  How would such a Mig-3 match up with our line up?  If it did not serve in the Stalingrad Battle, an Il-2 Battle of Moscow add-on Mig-3 AM 38 sounds like a plan.  :salute: MJ

yep, were manufactured several migs with am-38, which originally was only for for il-2...

some time ago i studied this very careful, but now forgot almost all, well, if i'm not mistaken were only really several migs in summer-end'41 and maybe early 42, not so much in total... but have very interesting RUMORS what some these planes had 2 shvak... :) just imagine this for self by, at least, experience of il-2 FB... :) i think it's better in 2 times than just am-38...

ie need model of am-38 - and we have now this engine for il-2 - and if we will have mig-3 even for some scenario'42 like kharkov, well, i think we have good chances, it's much more realistically and possible, than typhoon for dont know that... :)

but most likely it's for BOM'41-42, although, if we really WANT and can say for developers with something like "polls"... something like this... :)

Well, if the Mig-3 AM 38 is super exotic and it is hard to get solid info on the actual numbers used in the field, if used at all, I doubt that we would get the Mig-3 AM 38, but a more typical version. In a BOS scenario, I would never want a typical Mig-3, over a P-39, and certainly not on a map with Gustavs and Antons, ever.   ;) Still, the more typical Mig-3 might be popular with the Axis virtual squads, perhaps for many of the reasons I want nothing to do with her.

+1 Amen. The real 69 GIAP used  P-39s. I hope that my virtual squad can too, one day. Maybe in the next add-on, after IL2 BOS.  :salute: MJ

have approximate number of planes and facts about some combats, and i think, poll could be one of main reasons for including, no matter, correct year or not, and most likely problem with some technical information, and if i'm not mistaken, etc...

exactly this i wrote in my first post here, mig-3 at mid'42 not best choice, or just not adequate choice, because planes old etc... :) much better even i-16s, but many peoples wants and this is fact...

I would really like to see the I-16 again. It is such an iconic Sovjet plane, and a very different design from most fighters of the day.

Kukuruźnik! Night missions are so well  done in BoS, all they need is a night bomber. Plus, I love biplanes.

it's good what peoples wants really needful for planeset planes like u-2 and i-16... :good::), and i think we have good chances, but... long time i think what need much better poll with realistic list of planes for showing real needs...

I imagine we will see the I-16 in an Il2 Battle of Moscow add-on. The I-16 will be a really cool, but very challenging ride. Facing the Bf-109 F-2 will be a tough match up. Given what the Mig-3 test pilot said about the I-16 vs Mig-3 match up, in the ICGS documentary, the Mig-3 might be a better furballer than the I- 16,  but the I-16 may surpass the Mig-3 in relatively easier landing characteristics. The I-16 will be super cool, though.  :salute:  MJ

why exactly in BOM? :) i-16s of many types between 5 and 28, were used as COMBAT planes even in 44, plus have absolutely correct information what during BOS (summer, if i'm not mistaken) really were used i-16 mainly of early types with rockets...

Super cool indeed! Being "challenging" (essentially a crap-plane with big guns if we get the type 24) is half the fun! Againt the Bf 109 E it is a decent enough plane, and well suited to bang up transporters and bombers in the cannon version.

Yes, we will have great fun with the I-16. Introducing the I-16 would probably mean the introduction of the Emil,  and the Friedrich 2, which should appeal to the Axis fans, as well.  :salute: MJ

P.S. I like green tracers. Green tracers remind me of the TIE fighter.

The I-16 is like a little fly that keeps trying to land on your face. I am always happy when I swat one out of the sky in IL-2:1946, LOL. None the less it is an excellent dogfighter and it can be outfitted with 20mm cannons.

Yak-7 and Yak-9 and MiG-3's also some UT like trainers to be able to teach someone or fly with a two seaters which make the sim so much enjoyable.

Yak-7 trainer would be great or 9

Yeah, if we can't get a P-39, a Yak-7b that converts into a Yak-7v would be cool, so would a Yak-9. The Mig-3 would be great if there were high flying German recons or high flying bombers in game. I wish the Mig-3 AM-38 was common, then we could have a really practical Mig-3, better adapted for low and medium altitudes.  :salute:  MJ

20mm canons is Type28 actually.....

couple a Type 29 and a Bf109E-7 together, both were used as groundattackplanes at these times.

I don't know when, but I bet the team will eventually, one day, make a Mig-3. After all, the 1CGS team has tremendous access to persons really authoritatively in the know about the Mig-3:
