Trooper117 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Thought I would share my flight data for the P40 E-1. The tables below are scans from the US flight operating manual, originally printed in May 1943... then updated in Sept 1944. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2
Trooper117 Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) A few more useful points from the manual... 1. Normal operating oil temp is 60-80 degrees C, with a max of 95 degrees. 2. Take off... flaps set as required, usual setting is 10-15 degrees, but never over one half down. Radiator shutter open. 3. Landing... Gear and flaps down as per the chart above. Set rpm to 2600. Slowly reduce throttle to 18 hg manifold pressure. Approach at 105 mph. 4. Max dive speed... 480 mph. Max rpm... 3120 Edited November 10, 2015 by Trooper117
Requiem Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks for posting this Trooper, will come in handy
Trooper117 Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks As is the case in many of these posts however, whether the in game aircraft matches and performs on the manuals information, is sometimes another matter. At the moment, I'm having fun trying to get the aircraft to actually land correctly using the landing data... lol!
HippyDruid Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I haven't got BOM yet, but I do love these old manuals. Thanks for sharing.
Trooper117 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Sorry guys, can't do anymore. I've been warned off about copyright.
