Any chance we can bring back 16X time accel?

And of course the abusing it to speed up the unlocks...that's a separate issue.

This is why, it was never anything to do with anyone's system not being able to handle it.

I've explained the issues about time acceleration above n another thread. I think the topic has been covered.

What causes 16x accel not to work in bos whereas it works fine in rof?

Unlocks.

There are two reasons.

1. People were letting the autopilot fly the missions at increased speeds to gain unlocks.

2. Because of how our time acceleration works, not all users can get to x16 due to their system specs, especially on more active missions. This caused complaints and customer service inquiries that no matter how many times we explain it some don't get it. By limiting to x2 those "why can't I get to x16 like my friend" goes away.

Now we're left with you guys complaining you can't go faster then x2. So either way we can't win.

I personally prefer having x2 for our Campaign and up to x16 everywhere else if possible, but not my call.

This is from the other thread where Jason answered the question pretty thoroughly.

It's a shame they just can't inform folks if their machine can't handle accel past 2X...don't use it.

As far as the unlocks...it's a political thing...so not much can be done there I suppose.

Such a shame.

I never understood why AI Autopilot is available in the campaign. That's just odd.

BoS is a lot more demanding than RoF

The bombers wouldn't work without it.

i don't buy it. the second problem is easily solved by having an option for it, where it says anything over 2x may lead to slow downs. lots of games have disclaimers for certain options. and is there really a huge outpour of people who say they can't run 16x? i mean, it's pretty intuitive when you're using that feature that it slows the game down if you set it too high. so just set it back down to 8x or 4x. they're flying a sim where they need to watch the engine temperature and have concepts of aerodynamics in order to fly effectively, i'm sure they understand basic cpu issues.

i think the unlock thing is spot on. they don't want people zooming through the missions on 16x.

You mean if you want to just play the role of a gunner or bombardier and let your AI pilot fly the mission?

I mean the "AI" autopilot which will actually fly the mission, not just the Shift+A "level Autopilot"

Oops, my mistake, I misread your message up above.

Same argument as with the graphical presets, simplified routines for AI for larger formation fun, unlocks in MP and all that fun stuff that has been shot down - sorry, "maybe later'd" - options aren't an option.

Clearly they either feel it's not worth the effort (however much or little that may be) or they simply decided on a course and are now stubbornly riding it out.

Either way, utterly out of everyone's hands. The devs know about it by now - I mean there's no way in hell they don't - and clearly don't see a reason to change it.

I've pre-ordered bos and enjoyed it at the beginning. I've been pretty bummed when we had the time acceleration taken away. this is from a thread last year:  http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12138-time-compression-above-2x-ever-coming-back/

A clear solution has been proposed in the thread. I can't believe it's been a year and nothing has been done about it. Well I won't be spending any more money on this product or DLC's before this is fixed. It's one of the reasons I can't enjoy SP and one of the reasons I haven't bought into BoM.

Hmm, just bought the game on sale, don't actually have a system strong enough to run yet:).

I'm looking forward to even just learning to fly more complex modeled aircraft but.......

this is pretty bad news for me, I have limited time to play game, I used to find the acceleration of old IL2 (16 or 32x?) a major problem on longer missions, 2x!? That means even single player combat missions (I have no time for multiplayer) will be pretty much a no go for me:(.

There are plenty of shorter SP missions you can play that dont really require time acceleration.
