Picchio Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 There can`t be all the latest graphical gimmicks like in first person shooter games Yeah: instead, we're stuck with presets and motion blur... Still, I'm looking forward to a change in season. Also, I'm quite eager to see some rainy weather! 1
Saurer Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Yeah: instead, we're stuck with presets and motion blur... You know motion blur can be turned off

LeLv8_Otto Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I don't believe we are tweaking FMs for those planes any longer. Jason Really?? There is a problem which is notified by common sense regarding those planes and you just ignore it I invested in this game in a hope that flaws are fixed later when discovered, but statements like this will make me a non believer PS. I have read all the discussion in FM discussion 1
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 -snip- So no: BoS/BoM do not have the best cockpits, you can't have it all, but considering what else we've got, I'm plenty satisfied. Well, considering that I don't do much of my flying from the wing of my plane and I spend the majority of my time in a cockpit I guess I would think nice looking cockpits would be some kind of priority. What do I know, though?
Dr_Molenbeek Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 PS. I have read all the discussion in FM discussion But you know, all these FM threads have been opened by guys that want to destroy this sim. 2
Finkeren Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Well, considering that I don't do much of my flying from the wing of my plane and I spend the majority of my time in a cockpit I guess I would think nice looking cockpits would be some kind of priority. What do I know, though? Good thing we do have nice looking cockpits. Just not quite as nice as a few other sims.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Good thing we do have nice looking cockpits. Just not quite as nice as a few other sims. All matters of opinion are subject to the limitation that they are simply an opinion. I don't agree with you... Enough said on that matter.
ST_ami7b5 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Well, considering that I don't do much of my flying from the wing of my plane and I spend the majority of my time in a cockpit I guess I would think nice looking cockpits would be some kind of priority. What do I know, though? Usually I look OUTSIDE of my cockpit . So, if the instruments are readable and the pit looks good enough, it's OK for me. I'm no rivet counter in this area Much more important (again for me) are: - flight model (including AI) - damage model (including collidable trees) - performance (strongly related to the two items above - might be better, but it's not so bad) - enemy spotting / ground detail level (very important for ground attacks, which represented a really large part of the war on Eastern front - this still needs improvement IMHO) - playability (the weakest part of BoS so far, especially for SP, but let's hope PWCG for BoS will change this) Conclusion: pits are OK for me. SharpeXB Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) I meant flyable planes. One russian plane an a german plane but with all the systems working as in real life, never seen cockpit quality, some features like infantery war, more detailled ground area in general, that would be the ideal sim for me. Maybe for you this does't sound interesting, but hey, ppl are different. And then every 6 months or so one or two new flyable planes... this also would encourage ppl to really learn a plane before switching to the next. More depth and less quantity I guess is what I'm saying. But I get that many see it the other way arround. There's already another sim like this, where you can get a pair full systems planes for $99. I actually like it a lot. But it's a different type of sim than BoS. They're both fun and each is a good value. But you really can't combine every feature of every sim. It's just not feasible. Reflected Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Just seen this one. Great pics of the P-40, I can't wait to fly it! As for the cockpit: I know what you guys mean, it's not DCS-CloD quality with their detailed, high contrast shadows, and hi-res textures. That being said it's not ugly either, and so far I've been really happy with the way BoS balances everything to make the game more playable. I mean just look at FSX: my PC still can't handle it above populated areas - (and it doesn't look good either, but that's another question) On the other hand I have high expectations towards the sound of the P-40. That doesn't "cost" that much performance, so I hope it will be up to the standards of Accu-sim in FSX. 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 21, 2015 1CGS Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) Viks heads up our research team and he is very good. He sifted through the materials and he discovered that the P-40"E" I crawled over at Yanks is a P-40E on the external, but the cockpit is a glorified kit-bash of cockpit parts from various models. The instrument panel for instance is not from an E. Other parts inside the cockpit are from different models as well. Viks was good enough to spot the oddities and spot the common parts. Last I talked to him about it, it sounded like he had it wired. From what I've seen so far from early shots it looks accurate. If you don't like our textures that's another issue all together. The geometry and included equipment should be accurate. If there is some horrible mistake I'll talk to them about it, but I doubt there will be. Yep, I just had another look at some of the references we'd sent to VikS and, sure enough, I came across some original wartime photos of P-40E cockpits showing the exact same airspeed and artificial horizon gauges the team has modeled. So, the guys definitely got this one right (as they practically always do with these sorts of things). Edited September 21, 2015 by LukeFF
=38=Tatarenko Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I was surprised when Jason described the P-40 as a large aircraft but it really is. I saw one yesterday parked next to a pair of 109's and it is way bigger. I'd always thought they were small and nimble. This one was an F model with a Merlin engine and was pretty powerful.
Bearcat Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Hi, All this talk of cockpit quality makes me think that I must be looking at a different set of cockpits as I find them really well done and they seem to me to be getting better as the sim progresses, each with its own character. I've got A2A, DCS, CoD, RoF and BoS/BoM and I'd say that each has its own merits and for me at least I do not see anywhere were BoS/BoM is lacking or lagging behind the other titles available. I'm more than satisfied and feel I've had more than my moneys worth, I pay it all again if I had to, that's how much I'm enjoying it. Cheers. I don't get it either. I think these cocpits are done quite well. I think they are comparable to the cockpits in any other dedicated WWII sim on the market... developer supported or not. Well, considering that I don't do much of my flying from the wing of my plane and I spend the majority of my time in a cockpit I guess I would think nice looking cockpits would be some kind of priority. What do I know, though? These are very nice looking cockpits though. Given some of the feedback one would think these cockpits were terrible looking. They may not look like CoD cocpits but I think they are very close in many ways and in some ways better. I agree... 1

Luger1969 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Dear devs...just pleaseeee bring us the P40 the anticipation is great.

LLv24_Zami Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) It`s great to see Han answering all those questions in the other thread. Thanks! Two ways: Variant A: Simple flight model for AI planes Variant B: Physics thread separating Both very hard. But we have it in mind. May be one day. But now it's not planned. From those option B is obvious selection . Please do not simplify FM`s! FM and physics is what BoS is about so I wouldn`t derail them. Everything have "Plus" and "Minus". May be SFM for distant objects and AFM for close-up objects with switching. Will see later. May be one day. That could be useful. Edited September 22, 2015 by Zami
SharpeXB Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I like this idea May be SFM for distant objects and AFM for close-up objects with switching. Will see later. May be one day.

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 any ETA now? I'm tired of waiting Fall, 2015... Nothing has changed.
Sandhill Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Fall, 2015... Nothing has changed. So sometime between now and December 21... I think I'll be happier not holding my breath.

Asgar Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Fall, 2015... Nothing has changed. if that was the case than the ETA would've changed^^ you do realize that the P-40 was announced for September right?
