Freycinet Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) Being a discrete God-king of the Greek Pantheon, Zeus has an unfortunate habit of hiding his updates deep into existing threads. I thought this one deserved a thread of its own: Hi all I have some news for you. That's how the world you are used too is changing (check out an animation gif file, all WiP): dubki_transform1.gif Cheers For some reason I couldn't copy over the youtube links he posted (am on a mobile device) Edited June 9, 2015 by Freycinet
FlyingNutcase Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 No too shabby! But I still see the near-ground as pastelly looking, like from a pastel painting. Is it just me? 1
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 The summer map looks amazing! The transition reveals that the field-tiles don't match up all too well though. The plough furrows in the winter map runs the perpendicular to the directions from the field lay out in the summer map. However, unless the maps are compared tile-for-tile, that won't matter.
150GCT_Veltro Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 No too shabby! But I still see the near-ground as pastelly looking, like from a pastel painting. Is it just me? Photorealistic i would say, at least in last update.
FlyingNutcase Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Photorealistic i would say, at least in last update. Good to hear. I'm a bit color impaired which doesn't help.
SCG_Neun Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I can't wait for that green terrain. Looks really good...
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I can't wait for that green terrain. Looks really good... Yes it does.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I'm so used to snow I'm actually finding it hard to imagine what this map will be like
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) No too shabby! But I still see the near-ground as pastelly looking, like from a pastel painting. Is it just me? It will likely always be that way to some extent. It is better than the early ROF stuff. Even the natural world has a bit of shine (waxy leaves, grass, quartz, etc) but to model it would be a resource hog. It's the same reason we don't have a lot of glint off of the man made objects either. It is a compromise for playability. All that being said, the terrain is still fairly remarkable and getting us close to photo-realistic. Edited June 9, 2015 by [TBC]HerrMurf
No601_Swallow Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) Bootiful! I wonder where the second picture is. If it's on the Luki map, it should be findable - two villages at the start of a stream... [i wish I had my game! I'm away from home right now...] Edited June 9, 2015 by No601_Swallow

JimTM Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Nice Zeus! Can't wait! In the summertime when the weather is hotYou can stretch right up and touch the skyWhen the weather's fineYou got winning, you got winning on your mindHave a boom, have a zoomGo out and see what you can find Sung to the tune of "In The Summertime" by Mungo Jerry, with apologies to Ray Dorset :-)
3instein Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Will the summer map just be Stalingrad, or will it be SG and Velikie Luki? Cheers Mick.
Finkeren Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Will the summer map just be Stalingrad, or will it be SG and Velikie Luki? Cheers Mick. It will be all existing and future maps in all 3 seasons
6./ZG26_Emil Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 It will be all existing and future maps in all 3 seasons Is it definite that we're getting separate autumn and summer maps?
Finkeren Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Is it definite that we're getting separate autumn and summer maps? As 'definate' as 'it was written in DD87'. Even though that original announcement only mentioned the Stalingrad map, it was very clear that there will be three seperate version of the map, one for each season. Jason has since confirmed, that all BoS/BoM maps will be available in the other seasons versions as well.
3instein Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 It will be all existing and future maps in all 3 seasons Cheers for the answer Fink, appreciated. Mick.
Juri_JS Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Does anyone know what this is? Posted by Zeus here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/3095-obsuzhdenie-dnevnikov-razrabotchika-chast-9999/?p=305185 Edited June 16, 2015 by Juri_JS 4
102nd-YU-shtele Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) He said that's unannounced work by some enthusiasts...Announcement and completion depends only on these enthusiasts. Looks like Murmansk scenery. Edited June 16, 2015 by 102nd-YU-shtele
Juri_JS Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Yes, the second screenshot could be from the Murmansk area, but the mountains are too high for this region. Maybe they are from a Caucasus map? Edited June 16, 2015 by Juri_JS
Urra Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 It looks like a Finnish 109 and some mountains? Finland and northern tip of Italy it seems like?
6./ZG26_Emil Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Yes, the second screenshot could be from the Murmansk area, but the mountains are too high for region. North Africa maybe?
Finkeren Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Looks very intriguing. I can't wait to find out exactly what it is.
Urra Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) One does feel very positive just looking at the pictures. So it must be the North pole. Edited June 16, 2015 by roaming_gnome
Finkeren Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Yes, the second screenshot could be from the Murmansk area, but the mountains are too high for this region. Maybe they are from a Caucasus map? Don't mean to sound dismissive, but how do you know how high the mountains in those shots are?
Juri_JS Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Don't mean to sound dismissive, but how do you know how high the mountains in those shots are? I don't know how hight they are exactly, though the clouds might allow a rough estimation. All I know is, that they are too high and steep for the Murmansk area. If both screenshots are really from the same map, the mountains might be from an area further to the west in Norwegian territory. Edited June 16, 2015 by Juri_JS
Danziger Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Whatever it is it looks awesome and I hope it will be added
Urra Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Zeus just might pop in for a moment and give one more tiny detail about the screenshots.........insert puppy eyes.
