Mewt Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Heya Is there any way of making the Saitek Switch Panel work with something like IL2:BOS? Its designed by Saitek to be FSX compatible only. However there MUST be some way (Joy2Key, Custom Drivers, Java Hacks etc) to make it work as key presses - and therefore usable in IL2:BOS. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this (or similar hardware)?
VeryOldMan Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Depends how open are their specifications. Youc an discover the controller, then there might be already drivers for like devices that would be simple to alter ifyou have their source code. I could do it for linux, but I am a zero on the left side regarding windows drivers.
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) There is a fella on the DCS forums that have made the saitek pro flight instrument panel work in DCS:Worldbut i cant find it right now. EDIT: Found it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=111834&highlight=saitek+instrument+panel http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94174&highlight=saitek+pro+flight and http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16965 Edited October 17, 2013 by 332_HaJa
AndyHill Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) I have no experience with the Saitek stuff, but I would be surprised if it wasn't capable of functioning as a regular game controller (without landing gear lights and other such exotic functionality of course). I've been eyeing the radio stuff for a while now, it would be really useful to have actual radios at your fingertips with frequency displays. I wish there was some kind of a universal interface for simulators and hardware like this for better compatibility. It wouldn't be impossibly hard to do even, I think. Sokol1 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) Case is this hardware is not Direct X compatible, is not see by Windows as "game controller", so a key mapper dont help. For FSX use SIMConnect as interface. An since Saitek dont release a SDK no easy way to use in other sim. The above link for DCS forum is for Saitek instrument (display). DCS use a powerfull LUA language for commands... This landing gear status LED's to work properly need receive info from the sim. Is stated that BoS dont come with this function (Devicelink or something) at release. If you plan buy one, await... Google "Saitek Pro Flight Swtich Panel + Rise of Flight". Go Flight sold similar (and more expensive) modules, perhaps more easy to use. Look at SimWare. Sokol1 Edited October 17, 2013 by Sokol1

Mewt Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Just wanted to post an update to say that I bought this and manged to get it to output key presses - courtesy of a guide from a DCS forum. I'm using it for War Thunder right now - and it will work for any game - so it will work for BOS. Enjoy. 1
WIS-Redcoat Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I wonder why they would produce a product that is so limited in use. I also was planning to use the switch panel in anticipation of the more complex cockpits (I play ROF) but I am not too excited to have to use third party software.
Mewt Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Resurrecting my old thread. The awesome guys over on ED forums have done an awesome job updating the software for this and other Saitek panels. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137670 Some great stuff should you want to use them for IL2 or other games.
Sokol1 Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 If you use that 'keyboard' emulator soft from DCSW link, work. Don't work as HID joystick - is not "PnP" for Windows/games.
H2tCSuperwutz Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Yeah got it working with the link Mewt posted!
Virus* Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) has someone a profile for this? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137670 it is an app made for DCS and DCS-bios (not keyboard driven but event driven) and can make use of exports It has the option to work as keyboard emulation for sims like il2 that don't have interface like dcs. I have the multi panel and the switch panel, that program can also do keyboard emulation. Edited December 29, 2018 by Virus*
THERION Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I've got the switch panel and it works good with the key emulator software "DCSFlightpanels". The only thing that needs to be modified in the key mapping of the game are all commands which use the "ALT"-key combination. This doesn't work correctly, at least if you don't manually modify the profile file created in "DCSFlightpanels" - it's a known small bug. 1
