yaky109 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Ive got this running with iRacing outputting to 4 Buttkicker transducers with physics from the sim. It would be great in IL2:BoS to feel the landings as each wheel touches down, guns firing, hits, stalls (nearby flak explosions...). This and the Oculus Rift would be a thrilling combination. http://simxperience.com/en-us/products/simvibe.aspx Just sitting over a sub-woofer would work too of course and for the engine and gun sounds might even be preferable if it werent for the family sleeping upstairs when I have any time for simming! It may be time to go full-shed, and not skimp on the sound-proofing.
yaky109 Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) It works just like a speaker but instead of driving a light-weight cone the amp is moving a metal piston which transfers to your seat vibrations. Its hi-fidelity tactile feedback and can be driven by sound waves or by physics from a sim as with the simvibe software. Simvibe can drive mutiple channels with a mix of what you want to feel from engine, gear-shift clunk to four corner full physics bump texture from a virtual sensor mounted at the top of the spring/damper mount in the racing sim. It's expensive and of lower priority than good controls and PC performance but it does really add another dimension to the experience and again might be pretty amazing when combined with an Oculus Rift VR headset.
