Reflected Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) I'm reading an amazing book, "A Higher Call". It's about Franz Stigler who chose to escort a damaged B-17 home instead of finishing it off. Here's my tribute to him, it's his very first 109, "White 12", 4/JG27, Africa, Spring of 1942. The pack also contains a blank desert skin. DOWNLOAD: https://www.mediafire.com/?8q07zf95covzw54 Edited November 18, 2015 by Reflected 7

J4SCrisZeri Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Thanks mate, you hit a soft spot there, I'm very sensitive about my yellows A lot of research and fine tuning went into this one. Well spent time, the results are excellent. I will fly with that skin soon, thank you. 1
J4SCrisZeri Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Another great skin. I can't remember, but I guess this story involves an english pilot named Charlie Brown, like the comics character, and the two old pilots met like 30 years later. Correct? 1

Reflected Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Thanks for the appreciation and the nice words! The paint is drying on some more desert 109-s in my workshop
A-E-Hartmann Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 hello reflected, Nice work, but the RLM 79 is too dark it is actually much clearer . look at the photo you've posted and put a screen in black and white and compared .
BlackHellHound1 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Hello there fellow pilots, As some of you might have noticed I have been inactive for a while. I have had some personal stuff that took priority. Luckily that is now the past and the future gives me some free time that I can use to make new skins. A long time ago I started a project to remake scratch patterns on the planes. I had to put it on hold due to my personal activities. I can finally continue now that I have some time available again. I have started with the Bf-109F-4. I will be doing the other planes once I am done with the F-4. If you want to do a specific plane before the others: let me know! I am currently working on the Fw 190A-3. The project includes: Redesigning the scratch pattern to create a more realistic look. I have taken in account how dust and sand would scratch the plane during operation and where people would leave scratches when handling the plane on the ground. Slightly touching the dirt effects to fix some small but strange imperfections. There were some places with no dirt or oil where dirt and oil would easily accumulate. I tried to make it look like the ground crew was taking good care of the plane keeping it clean and in good working condition. Complete redo of the Alpha channel (controls how shiny a part is). Mainly focused on rivets, panel lines, dirt, metal expansion and contraction deformation and the new scratch pattern. Making the panel lines a tiny bit more visible if needed. Some panel lines where completely invisible while being clearly visible on WW2 pictures. I also improved some lines that were barely visible. Aligning some panel lines to make them symmetrical (if that was the case on the real plane) I have used WW2 pictures to assist me. This allowed me to make a more accurate scratch and panel line pattern. I have tried to keep the style the same as the games original skins to make sure they don't look strange in the game. I am considering sharing the template if there are enough people that would like to use it. The following pictures will show you what has been changed on the skin. (Note that the dirt effects and panel line alignment is nearly impossible to detect!) I used my Hans von Hahn skin to demonstrate the changes. Original template (already has a few tweaks made to it): Updated template which includes the changes as mentioned above: This update applies to all my Bf 109F-4 skins. JG3 Bf109F2 Detlev Rohwer JG3 Bf109F2 Hans von Hahn JG27 Bf109F4 Franz Stigler JG51 Bf109F2 Werner Molders JG54 Bf109F2 Dietrich Hrabak JG54 Bf109F2 Hans Philipp JG54 Bf109F4 Bismarck JG54 Bf109F4 Max-Hellmut Ostermann To download the updated skins: Download my skin complete skin pack and replace all the old files. http://www.mediafire.com/download/m6remr61e0385fy/Complete+skin+pack.zip If you like the old version more then you don't have to change anything BlackHellHound1 Edited November 18, 2015 by =[Coffin]=BlackHellHound1 4

No offense Herr Major but I disagree. It's all about sun light ! According to the few but good colour photographs of real Bf 109 F-4/trop with original RLM 78/79 camos (Sandgelb/Hellblau), Reflected's choice looks pretty accurate IMO. Look at the 109s in the background.

Hi, Funny, I just came to the same conclusion this morning. You cannot judge by the b&w photo, the sun also plays a huge part. However, I do agree that I have to make it a tad lighter. I compared the hue/ saturation/ lightness to photos of replicas, but you also have to take into account the general look of the game. It has to blend in well. I will post a correction later today. RGB values prove on all pictures I checked that RLM 79 is actually a tad lighter than RLM 78. Hard to believe isn't it? On my skin it's not a tad darker, or the same lightness. Reflected Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Thanks Hartmann for the advice, I fine tuned the RLM 79 to make it lighter. I compared it to real photos in photoshop and it should be about right - depending on the light of course. FlyingH Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Chrome has gotten paranoid, can´t DL almost anything since a few days!!
Trooper117 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Chrome isn't paranoid... I have been downloading several skins from mediafire with no problems... however, when I go on Aussie's link I get the same warnings...
Hollywood_ Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 This is actually the first time I get this from one of Aussies links, I've been downloading his skins just fine until this pack he just uploaded
AussieBoomer Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Sorry Guys, Don't understand what the problem is. I will try and fix it straight away.
AussieBoomer Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) Most of the aircraft pictured in this post are in the Pack, http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/16814-some-skins-ive-created/ I've deleted the old Zip folder and re uploaded a new one. Trooper117 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Skin JG2 9 #11... has no crosses on the wings. Is this correct?
FlyingH Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 In the SAS forum there was complaints that the Chrome developers had decided that mediafire was a malware distibuting site so it was banned for some time! Now it seems as it´s useaable again! I just DLed from mediafire again a minute ago with no problem!
AussieBoomer Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) Sorry Trooper117, Corrected skin JG2 9 #11 here. http://www.mediafire.com/download/1up2xbrza49vrxt/Bf109F4_JG2_9_%2311.dds Cheers, Aussie. Edited November 23, 2015 by AussieBoomer

Reflected Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Nice one Gustav, but didn't that unit have thinner yellow fuselage bands? Also, it appears as if the yellow of the band and the wavy marking were different on your skin. Maybe just an illusion. The black of the JG52 marking and the national insignia are definitely different though.
