Looks good so far for a first try (that's pretty much worth mentioning). One note though on the exhaust gas dirt. It should have a very dark brown / near black colour, your's looks rather light brown / greenish. It quite looks like your Messerschmitt is leakign fuel threw the pipes that way. ;)

As example here a close up on the Red 7's exhaust pipes (note the realatively low ammount of dirt due to exceptional maintanance and cleaning. Machines in combat would look worse all the way):

ap05_heinz_messerschmittbf109_004_sm.jpg

And another example, this time a Skyraider ( RM 205 )

2008916.jpg

Another tip of mine is to copy your exhasut gas layer and implement it into your alpha channel wiht a very dark grey (not black!) colour. That way oyu acchieve very light reflections on the gas dirt area which makes for nicer and more realistic light effects on your skin.

agree with your analisys, it is technically flawless. I still love the yellowish shade since to me it looks nice. Greasy, I could say. Just a personal feeling I guess.

Also, I have seen a skin around here, it had another very nice detail. I think it was some FW190. Anyway, the paint was very wornout and scratched where the pilot climbs to enter the cockpit, and presumably his boots tend to wear the plane's body

very, very little nice touch

forgive my english, it is not my first language.

EDIT ok, found it, here it is, please notice the spot I was mentioning (besides, this is a very wornout skin, which i LOVE)

Stab/JG26_5tuka, on some photos in my video it really looks quite yellow, but yeah, you're right, But still thanks for the tips so that i can do better next time  :salute: but i guess i shouldn't go on trying to make the skin 100% perfect, it's fine like it is now  :)

Well flawlessly working engines usually pop out dark brown (and black) smoke. I didn't want to make it sound as rude critique but rather as a proposal. Just like in scale modeling realistic and authenticly applyed weathering is the most difficult part of skinning, so don't be ashamed if it doesn't turn out perfectly. I probably coudln't create realistic looking exhaust smoke dirt myself.

Hello there fellow pilots,

I have added an other Bf 109F-4 skin to my museum.

Bf 109F-2 "Black Chevrons and Bar" Flown by ace Oberst Dietrich Hrabak, Summer 1941.

Dietrich Hrabak has scored a total of 125 victories during his entire career.

He was Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG54 when flying this plane.

Some part of the plane where not on any pictures. Therefore, I had to use parts of other planes to create the complete pattern. I have attempted to make the patterns as realistic as possible while matching the information I could find. I used the patterns from other planes from JG54 with a similar camouflage pattern.

This skin is historically accurate.

I have posted this skin in my Museum where you can watch all of my skins and even get them yourself!

Great great work as per usual Iceman.

After I downloaded the skin I went to read up on Barkhorn.  Steinhoff said: "He is my choice of all the Second World War fighter pilots, steady reliable, a good leader.... He was the fighter commander of whom every fighter pilot dreams-leader, friend, comrade, father....Gerd Barkhorn was an unforgettable man."

(Osprey JG52)"On 19 December southwest of Stalingrad, Oberleutnant Gerhard Barkhorn Staffelkapitan of 4/JG52, claimed his 100th kill."

Thanks for this one...definitely not forgotten in Il2 Bos now.

This reminds of me of Gunther Lutzow. 2nd to 100 after Molders. Galland said: "This man was a fearless fighter and a great ace, and a demanding yet fair leader who never asked his men to do anything he had not already done."

I am including 2 links my hope is that you may also kindly skin these please (also in anticipation of iL2 BOM). The second one surprised me but it is accurate.......

Thanks to all the skinners for their beautiful work. I am enjoying very much and also reading a lot about the topic of your work.

Salute.

Hi all,

Did this Bf-109 F2 of Oberleutnant Robert Olejnik "Staffelkapitan" I/JG3 Lyzk, Russia, July 1941, used in Operation Barbarossa. It carries the unmistakable white(though there were a few colours) "Wurm" on the nose and if you look closely at the front right side fuselage an impromptu "O" is vaguely sprayed in RLM 74 obviously in recognition of his surname. What is also strange and possibly not correct is that this mount of Olejnik's had black wing roots not sure about this but i'll include my reference so you can see for yourself.

This skin was done as a special request by one of our forum members when he gives me permission i'll upload it for all. Please note this skin carries full historic markings.

Thanks a lot for your interest.

Rob.

Köszi! :)

To make it more authentic I first painted the nose yellow, then sprayed some RLM71 on it so in some places it shows through randomly. Debrődy is my favorite RHAF ace, I really wanted to get this one right.

Multiple skins for 1 JG/3 around the time of Operation "Barbarossa" summer 1941, Russia, led by Oberleutnant Robert Olejnik.

Hope you like these, I did them for all you budding mission makers and for those who want near historical skins that are not all the same stock ones. These are not individual repaints but slight variations to my "Olejnik" F2 skin. I have done codes changed a few colours of spinners and tail fins here and there but in keeping with the correct historical "style".

I simply do not have the time to do separate camouflage and mottling for each 109, I wish I did but I still think this is better than having all different kinds of skins from all different units.

I am sorry about the "Hakenkruez" in the screenshots but this time there were too many to edit out and I want you to see the true historic nature of the multiple repaints, my wish is to offend no one.

Thanks Rob.

P.S.There are seven 1 JG/3 new skins in all, to make eight use my Robert Olejnik F2 repaint above.

!!! Hans von Hahn Skin UPDATE !!!

Hello there fellow pilots,

A few days ago I accidentally found a few new pictures of Hans von Hahn's plane.

These pictures provided some new information on the plane and therefore I decided to update the skin.

You can see the all the changes in my museum: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13781-blackhellhound1s-skin-museum/?p=241716

You can download the updated skin via the original download link: http://www.mediafire...ns von Hahn.zip

Hopefully, this will be my last update on this skin.

Here is a new picture with the improvements:

Hi :)

Time in, (raster's Alpha Grey Channel). Does anything look different?  :salute:

If you like this, (warning swastika), the link below has the skin, (pictured), and a ToolBox called: Alpha1-Grey-Layer-F4-ToolBox-With-Swastika.7z,  to help you with the F4's translucent effect within the raster's alpha grey channel:

Hello there fellow pilots,

I have added my first fictional Bf 109F-4 skin to my museum.

Bf 109F-4 "Bismarck"

This time not a historical skin but instead a custom skin designed to be fictional while keeping a somewhat historical look. This plane bears the markings of JG54 as well as Bismarck's personal markings.

The skin is based of the JG 54 Hans Philipp skin I made earlier.

This skin was requested by =LD=Bismarck

This skin is fictional.

I have posted this skin in my Museum where you can watch all of my skins and even get them yourself!
