Fenris_ Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) All sorts of good stuff here - http://www.asisbiz.com/il2.html and this - http://www.luftarchiv.de/index.htm?/flugzeugbau/kenungen.htm and for our Finnish friends - http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_finland.htm Mostly US members I think, but a huge resource for pics and info, here is a VVS article for an example - http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=47932&p=480320&hilit=vvs#p480320 Edited December 28, 2014 by Fenris_

SOLIDKREATE Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Just some info on Luftwaffe paint jobs: QUOTE: "The camouflage of all German aircraft is officially standard, and any variations are to be accounted for by variations in the taste and skill of the painters." - Hptm. Rolf Pinge
Filin333 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Friends, publishing the own colourings of airplanes and historical colourings for the general use, accompany please variants without a number on a fuselage. Image of number for a fuselage, means on your own.
Yakdriver Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 say again?version of no Numbers, i understand. but why? what purpose? You want to modify and make your own numbers on skin? interested to find out. Maybe we can assist for your own numbers?
SOLIDKREATE Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I think he just wants one that everyone can use. I have actually thought about this. I will be releasing a generic 7./JG54 - 9./JG54 skin for the Bf-109F-4 but with F-2 skins without tactical numbers.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) I am using GIMP to create personal skins. My biggest issue is finding a good resource for VVS decals, including numbers. I have searched through the forums here and Googled extensively without much luck. I have only come across a couple and was hoping for a wider variety. I must be overlooking something. Links would be appreciated. Edited January 12, 2015 by VR_Stick

79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) I have added a Sovjet markings file to Simmers Paintshot. The marking templates they had were made for old IL2 1024x1024 px templates and are too small for BOS-size templates. The new markings file has stars 536 pixels tall, more than ample for the skin templates. Comes with stars in three basic WWII styles, with worn and pristine versions. Enjoy! viperrm64 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) My contribution is a collection of my own custom made PSD files(1024 X 1024 canvas and done in 1200 dpi), representing Luftwaffe "Kill" or victory marks used on tailfins of nearly all Luftwaffe aircraft. These PSD files cover air kills only and are layered where necessary so you can configure them accordingly. I hope they come in handy. 79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Another markings file, this time early style hand-painted numbers for the VVS. These should be suitable for both BoM and BoS era skins. Each digit is 350 px tall, suitable for the large templates of the current sim. Pierre64 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 (edited) The exact stencil, calling attention to the sealing of the canopy, is : Beim Schließen der Kabine auf Vorderteil-Gummirahmen achten (IMO only on late G series and K, not on F). (edited one year later, after I found this photograph on Marc-André Haldiman’s highly recommanded flickr). https://www.flickr.com/people/28092068@N03/ Edited February 2, 2019 by Pierre64 A better photograph of this stencil 1

616Sqn_Johnny-Red Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 RAF Colour Reference: I made this to support my own work and do not claim it to be 100% authorititive, but these are the colours I'm currently using (hence the date). The sources are IPMS Stockholm.org (Urban Fredriksson and Martin Waligorski), online Federal Standard Colours, 1CGS, Wikipedia and my own preferred interpretation of some commonly used colours. I hope it may be of use or interest 2 2 2

You don't, pilots hand painted inscriptions in Cyrillic. You’ll have to paint by hand. It’s a arduous task but the pay off is well worth it. 1
