How to view mini-map in Expert mode

I noticed in Expert mode, the 'M' key no longer pops up a mini-map of the area.   That makes VFR navigation pretty much impossible.

 

How can I view a static map (no icons) while I'm in Expert mode?

The 'O' key should give you a map.

As far as I know the mini map is not available in Expert mode. However the main map may be. Hit the "O" key. Some folks remap this to M.

Is that option "show mission briefing"?  That also has a map.

Press "O" key to see full screen map - is the only map available in Expert mode.

 

Is this map, the briefing text can be hidden by clicking in > on left lower corner of text.

And press "I" key to don't see your plane icon and other planes, targets icons near you (~50KM ?) on this map. They are turned ON for default in Expert mode.

 

Tip: Press "O" and "I" simultaneous (are side by side), this bring the map without icons, and when pressed again turn OFF the Map and ON the "digital instrument panel" - what in Expert is the Compass on HUD (case you use this). "I" key are tied to both options (full screen map and digital instrument panel).
