KG200_Volker Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Hello fellow pilots, I don't know if someone else had posted this solution already, if it exists just delete my thread. There's a way to improve ground handling for German planes so they are drivable. First go in to game "Settings" then "Plane Controls" and bind in "Left wheel brakes (German)" and "Right wheel brakes (German)" to your rudder, So for LEFT turn from center rudder position fully to the left and then fully to the right, the exact opposite for right brakes. The menu at the end will seem like having the same axis for both directions but its OK, if you notice at the time that you make input it will show something like " -joy0_axis_t " for one side and " joy0_axis_t " for the other, but the " - " symbol doesn't appear in the final menu. Start a quick mission on ground to test. The most IMPORTANT thing now is to set MANUAL PROP PITCH !! ( Right SHIFT + P the default keys) Set your PPitch to 0% and drive the plane with rudder and throttle. Remember to set PPitch to AUTO again before take off! Hope that helps~ Edited December 8, 2014 by KG200_Volker
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) I thought the key-binds where self explanatory? left for left and right for right, am I missing something here? oh wait are you not using forward toe breaks, is that what your saying? Edited December 16, 2014 by 71st_Mastiff
KG200_Volker Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 This may help during taxiing, but ruins your takeoffs, when you will be using brakes where they're not supposed to be used :-/ No it won't be a problem, the brakes are too week to make a difrence, also this setup helps you keep a straight line during the beginning of your run. I thought the key-binds where self explanatory? left for left and right for right, am I missing something here? oh wait are you not using forward toe breaks, is that what your saying? Yes, this applies to people without pedal rudders but only a joystick.
Tyberan Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I've found having the flaps down helps immensely. They act as a drag to prevent from going to fast but giving you full rudder authority on the ground. I just use the brakes to slow down in sharp corners now.
