Game is released, I sign on.

Triple head is still broken.

I look on the official FAQ, and the "official" line is that 3 monitor support is no longer a thing anymore. Why the stealth change?

How is this acceptable? Every other dammed flight sim works. Hell, even 1946 works with 3 monitors, and that's game's been out for longer I've been gaming.

You mention "Triple head"  -does that mean that you are using the Matrox "Triplehead2g0" screen-splitter?

I have been using the Matrox screen-splitter from the beginning of early-access and it has always worked perfectly - and still does.

It runs on 4080x768 and I use 3x 23-inch monitors. Graphics are excellent  (GTX 590 card).

Nope. Nvidia Surround at 5760 x 1080

Funny thing is that for a while it worked.

Devs, please give us a word on this. Many of us are waiting on this. All current flight sims support muti-monitors and this is expected for 2014.

The problem is with resolutions above 4096 horizontal I think, I haven't checked the actual number however.

Rise of Flight, DCS, old 1946, the mess that was Cliffs of Dover....

We didn't purposely change anything. Something, we don't know what broke the old support that we brought over from ROF. Our graphics system was modified quite a bit from ROF as development wore on. We will eventually fix the triple monitor support, but that time frame is up to Loft and those that have to build or fix the support. We are aware of the desire to have this supported.

And you can call that a full release?

No I don't call it "full" release. I call it a "commercial" release and we've made it clear that we will continue to improve the product after commercial release which happened 2 days ago with another update today.

Thanks for the update on the triple screen issue Jason.

Jason, thanks for the reply. Triple screen support worked fine in BOS until you got rid of custom graphics options and made only presets available. The key thing is you need to be able to disable post effects like we can in ROF.

No I don't think that is the exact reason, but I'll mention it.

Awesome to hear that this thing will be eventually solved! I do believe that BoS will evolve similar to RoF, which has only gotten better during the time. RoF was quite far from perfect on release, but the engine improvements and addons have improved the game tremendously.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think there are now two separate issues and one of them (very blocky graphics, probably upscaled internally) is indeed fixed by removing post effects, both in RoF and in earlier BoS. The other issue with non-centered focus point in very wide resolutions may or may not be related (I would guess not), but hopefully that's not a very difficult thing to fix either.

Also if I may ask, please give us a quick fix for the blocky graphics issue by being able to remove post processing as soon as possible (it's a quick, super easy fix) and focus on fixing the post effects themselves (possibly more effort) later. I don't know what can be done about the focus issue.

To anyone interested in the subject I attached an image of the latest build at the time of writing. Sorry it's only JPG but the original BMP was 24MB in size. There are three main issues here:

1) The graphics are very blocky. My guess is that this is because of internal upsampling that starts to happen at resolutions of 4000++ in width, getting gradually worse as the resolution increases (I think). The same problem exists in RoF, where it is fixed by disabling post effects - this worked fine in early BoS betas as well when we were still able to disable them. It would be nice to get a proper fix for post effects, but just being able to remove them would be easily enough for now.

2) The focus point is to the right of center (The view is centered in the picture). I don't know what's causing this issue, but it also seems to start happening at resolutions of 4000++. I'm hoping this is an easy fix, because the 5760 resolution is not really usable unless this is corrected.

3) Map and other info screens are not exactly in the best possible places on the screen, it would be nice to have the ability to set their position in a conf file but that's exactly what it would be; nice to have, not that important at all (please get the other stuff fixed first!).

...and one more thing I forgot to mention; I take it that you don't have an ultra wide setup to test with, so if there's anything at all I can help with (testing, creating conf files, whatever) just ping me and I'll do whatever I can. Heck I can pretty much volunteer everyone else who has frequented these 3 screen threads, I'm sure most of us would love to help in any way we can.

Apologies for being so hostile. I am taking these statements with a huge grain of salt. I've some feeling that you folks will simply shove this issue so far behind the priority list that it won't see the light of day for months and months, especially since we have no guarantee that it is indeed being worked on.

Posted

I saw a response from devs saying they were waiting to see how many people wanted triple screen support, my first reaction was to demand my money back and go into rant mode. Thank goodness I now see that it will be supported. I pre ordered months ago based on Rise of flight and despite of CLOD.

Disappointed that it did not make it to "commercial release"

I feel your pain and understand your fears, lets hope it gets fixed and quick. I also understand your reaction.

Well RoF, with the post effects on, gives the same exact issue on a triple screen setup as BoS; I think TX-Zigrat got that one right.

Just gives us the option to disable the post effects as a quick fix to play the sim for now... while you figure out what's wrong !!!

Thanks for listening, Jason. BoS is fantastic thus far -- it can be epic and the stuff of legend if it can be used on high-end hardware :)

At least there appears to be ongoing work to correct this. Bluntly, for the $94 early adopter price I would expect this feature to be a major pre commericial release priority. Triple screen is an essential element of immersion in any flight or race sim and your survey asking who has triple screen suggests that around a third of users have gone down that route, so the demand, and I would say the need, is high.

I would have commented on this prior to release but extreme time pressures since the early summer prevented me from firing up BOS until just these past few days.

Development team please put this at the top of your list. It is a pre-requisite in this day and age.

Absolutely, please count me in for any testing you need to have done.

3 monitors support was working fine in ROF, that's right. In this project we decided to find out how many players actually need this feature first, then decide to make it or save the resources for something else.

So we'll see.

Looks like that awareness differs from the dev to dev. Great to know that all this time you guys have been twiddling your thumbs to figure out whether it's worth the effort, and only now consider having a crack at fixing it.

Give us a goddamn timeframe. Sick of the "Hopefully before release", "We'll see", "We're looking into it" that we've been spoonfed for months while hoping that since it was a listed feature the game wouldn't be released prior to fulfilling key criteria. What's it been now, a year since it broke? More?

Thanks for the reply Jason, I too can help with any necessary 5760x1080 testing or monitor donation.

Mmmmm, this is very, very disappointing. Let`s hope it gets fixed sooner rather than later.

The funny thing is that it is not even that difficult to fix, at least temporarily. Next time I am gonna think twice before coughing up money.

Grrr. Every time I see a new download, I get slightly excited, fire it up, and lo and behold, it's still not fixed. Damnation.
