FuriousMeow Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Just messing around offline I ran across a couple of things that you would never notice, until they happen. 1) The generator sound in LW aircraft. It keeps running after ditching your aircraft until you do a full shut down (press E and everythings turns off) and then you'll hear the generator slowly power down. 2) The bomb bays in the Pe-2 are gravity based. Open them and they drop down, close them and they get pumped back up. The controls are in the right side of the cockpit, and you can see them activated appropriately. There are also the appropriate associated sounds, most noticeable when engine is off. 3) Nav lights will trail in kicked up snow during landing and gradually become shorter as the trail shorterns/aircraft slows. You'll see it most pronounced in the tail light during dusk/dawn (or pure night). 4) Go into external view and get close to the ground. You'll actually hear the sounds reverberate back from the ground. At least if you are using a 5.1 sound system. I had to check it a few times, but if I put the camera view slight in front of and totally below the plane (tried several) I could hear the sound coming back from the rear speakers as the aircraft got closer to the ground. That is just a few things I noticed in the span of 15 minutes tonight just testing QMB settings, and there are other features I've seen that I haven't posted (God rays through the clouds when heavy clouds are around, looks amazing) and I'm certain there is a lot more. Some nice cloud cover and "God rays." Edited September 18, 2014 by FuriousMeow 2
SYN_Bandy Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) That is a seriously intense cloud. I don't recall seeing something so random mimicking real forces of nature. Hopefully is isn't a setting that results in that formation being repeated too often. Edited September 19, 2014 by SYN_Bandy
oneeyeddog Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Furious, Thanks for taking the time to post these observations.
SR-F_Winger Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 i think the rays could be tuned up a bit. real ones are - under certain conditions - much stronger: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7011/6435998327_c199426c3a_z.jpg
Finkeren Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 i think the rays could be tuned up a bit. real ones are - under certain conditions - much stronger: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7011/6435998327_c199426c3a_z.jpg I thought about that as well, but then it occurred to me, that the rays are simply sunlight reflected from particles in the air (mainly tiny water droplets) and BoS depicts harsh winter with extremely low temperatures and very, very dry air. It makes sense that the rays would be weak under those conditions.
39bn_pavig Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 If they depict sundogs and cloud iridescence then I'll be impressed. (Hint, hint developers. ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumhorizontal_arc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_iridescence 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 19, 2014 1CGS Posted September 19, 2014 The generator sound in LW aircraft. It keeps running after ditching your aircraft until you do a full shut down (press E and everything turns off) and then you'll hear the generator slowly power down. This is one thing I really like, as it gives more of a feeling of all the machinery running underneath the hood, so to speak.
[JG2]Surf Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I love the sound of the APU spooling up on the He111 prior to cranking. And the sound of the of the engines purring a cruising speed from the nose gunner's position is...ahh...quite immersive.
