=69.GIAP=STENKA69GIAP Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 OK I think we are ready to test out our multiplayer campaign manager on some of the unwashed. I have a test server set up and need 5 guinea pigs ready to suffer hunting down bugs and writing up what they have done. I need to know what is understood and what is not. You need either the RoF mission editor to test the RoFwar version or the Stalingrad mission editor to test the BoSwar version. They both work almost identicaly so don't worry which one you use. The first 5 to PM me will get started. I will supply you with an address, login and password. Also a teamspeak address where we can discuss results. Do not ask if you do not have the time to write up your results. I need some feedback in order to decide where to put the priorities in the next days as as we prepare for launch. 9
PA-Sniv Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Great news Stenka! I can't really help as I hardly find time to play, but I'm sure some good tester will step in! Cheers,
SYN_Bandy Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 This does indeed sound interesting, but unfortunately I have no time to help. Bug testing is demanding and detail oriented work. If you do not have real experience doing it, then your reports may be more hindrance than a help in replicating the bug on the devs system. Make sure you can replicate the bug yourself by performing the same action history before you report it as a bug... etc... Good luck gentlemen!
71st_AH_Hooves Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Same as Bandy, I truly wish I had time to test this, I will be watching this closely however.
=69.GIAP=STENKA69GIAP Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 OK I've got one tester up and running, need more, the development team can only do unit testing, we cannot see the faults that a fresh mind will encounter.
MarcoRossolini Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Good luck, wish I could join in, don't have the time currently.
AbortedMan Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Wow! This is amazingly well done!! Very impressed so far. This explains the process completely and I imagine would be a great resource for people that don't know the steps for creating a mission template. Some feedback: 1. Noticed some spelling/English errors..."dis enabled" should be "disabled". 2. May save some time if you could provide .mission templates with scenery groups already added for downloading, which will allow users to define their influence areas and area of operations much quicker if they do not already have a template. 3. There are no "flags" objects in the scenery templates in BoS mission editor groups in the data/templates folder. I'm thinking your instructions in the setup regarding "flags" are referencing something in RoF? EDIT: My fault, I had "Flags" filtered in the object filter...if they were there they just weren't showing. 4. I've finished the initial setup and am now at "Air Forces", but unable to advance past this screen without realizing there was no "progression" to a new screen as I was expecting: I made my edits and clicked "Apply", page reloaded and comes back to the same page with no confirmation that the changes were accepted/applied...looks odd and someone may think that the page was simply not doing anything correctly (as I first did), especially after just coming from the "Setup" where clicking "Apply" or "Next" showed progression to a next page (I was expecting this page to progress to another). Very minor, but could raise questions. 5. This screen refers "Export Static Groups", but there is no button with that name visible: 6. When the user starts the downloading groups (bridges, columns, statics) process, you should specify in which .mission file that was previously created these groups should be added to. I was a bit confused on what the system would want (the template, blanktemplate, cleantemplate, or sector .mission) modified with the groups it is producing. Very well done so far. This is absolutely amazing work. I'm unable to test the missions at the moment, but I did not see any errors while loading and manipulating them in the BoS editor. I will surely be able to actually see the mission in action tonight. If there is any more information you need, please let me know. Edited September 3, 2014 by AbortedMan
