Navigation? Navigation is pretty straightforward IMHO.

Just press O to have the high-res map, and you can zoom in and out and move it. You spot landmarks, and you use your compass to know which direction you're heading (0 = North, 90 = EAST, 180 = SOUTH, 270 = WEST).

I tend to navigate by following forests, towns, airfields, rivers... anything that can give you a hint of where you are.

That + railroads and bridges.I hit Pitomnik yesterday on my first flight without problem following this simple principals:

1.Before take off, check the map where your point of interest is,remember rough heading towards it and back

2.Look for waypoints and arrange your flight accordingly (significant map features on your trajectory - towns, airfields, river bands, railway bridges...)

3.Keep to your planned route - quite important ;)

and i thought there was magic involved here. It's a matter of becoming familiar with the landscape. No different from CLoD except the landscape is all white! Thanks guys for reminding me of the obvious. I get around quite well in CLoD with icons off and no Wonder_Woman views. Full Real, yeah baby! Brano, I do exactly as you, and Chuck. Don't know why I thought there was something extra involved. Maybe it has to do with the little blue dots or beacons?

In Rise of Flight, you can resize the in-flight map and zoom in and out. Hopefully (since BoS is based on RoF) they can implement the same functionality in BoS.

the same feature is in Cliffs of Dover; resizing of the map, and zooming in or out. A useful feature for sure, escpecially with such huge maps as BoS has, and it's been demonstrated in a BoS video how much far an in-game scene can be zoomed.;)

Before I spawn I plan my route and landmarks along the way as well as heading changes at each landmark and write it down on a scratch pad. I tend not to use RR and Roads as they don't like they are accurate on the map, I mostly use rivers/towns/forests. I didn't know about the "O" map until now :D

You pick the He 111 transport, fly to pitomnik and resupply the bases.

You can see what this means by klicken on the forward bases. The amount of planes is limited there - by resupplying the base the number of available planes increses.

So a empty or bomb loaded  He111 to Pitomnik land end mission thats it?

Is there any confirmation or points at this time? I done it, successful landings no points, Just want to make sure I'm  not missing anything.

Confirmation of landing appears server-wide at the bottom of the screen.

Game is not awarding any Points for these kind of actions, but hopefully we can find a workaround or devs will implement it? If you land, fighters at Pitomnik will get replenished and your fighter jock friends will be very gratefull! :)

Excellent - I didn't even see this thread previously (doh!!). I'm assuming it'll show up on the main BOS server list? Will try it out tonight if its up.

Just wanted to say I had a blast with the guys tonight on the Syndicate server. I got to fly the He-111 for the first time and managed to grease my landings in both transport sorties, so I was pretty pleased with myself  Then we took a few Pe-2s, went on a raid and attacked some He-111s at their airfield, stirred up the hornet's of fighters then egressed without being found  The atmosphere is just completely different now even with this simple mission.

The guys who choose to fly fighters exclusively are missing out! Just ask Vorlander, the guy who loves to kill something in-game more than anyone I know and even HE is having fun with the bombers  :P If you haven't given them a decent go in MP get some people together and try it. It really is a blast.

I can indeed confirm that Requiem flew the He-111 tonight (recognize his intensity?), and it is wonderful to behold...  the aircraft that is...

The O-key is a new one for me. Will give it a go tonight when I try to get my He-111 into Pitomnik. Looking forward to it!

Most important for navigating bombers was the compass and the stopwatch. The quadrats are 10km long. Diagonal that makes 14km. If your heading is f.e. 070 you make a rough guess in between - 11km. Now you count the quadrats to your destination and you have the distance. A bomber makes around 5km per minute, which makes it very easy to compute. If there is no major storm, you will be surprised how accurate you will be. Of course you check your flight by looking outside, but it doesn´t matter, if you oversee some white in white landmarks on the way.

Very nice mission, the one where you have to resupply Pitomnik.

After reading the briefing i took a Stuka with the big guns and tried to kill some tanks but was shot out of the sky before i reached my objective.

Then i took a 109 and climbed high above the Kessel, ~5km, good visibility, so no sneak attacks.

Perhaps later we will have different attack points, makes life for ground pounders a little bit easier :)

Did you deliberately set the turbulence so high? I found it very difficult to keep the nose of the Stuka steady down low, if not impossible. After the mission i tried the Stuka in the QMB with turbulence set to 1 m/s and even then it was nearly impossible to hit tanks with the big guns and i would estimate the the turbulence setting in your mission is at least 2 or even 3 m/s.

Looking forward for the things to come, thank you.

I had such a great time today on the Syndicate server. It finally felt like me and my 19te Sqaudron were at war. Especially the advancing german tanks trying to break trough the Rusisans was amazing. I can't wait for infantry coming into the game.

I have some questions and they might be silly, but I don't know what the 3d BOS engine is capable of.:

1. Is it possible at this current state to bomb all german tanks + atillery and secure the objective?

2. Is there a real fight going on between the troops on the ground?

3: And if yes to question 2, can one part win over the other and by that end the map that way?

In ROF the world on the ground in my opinion alway felt "dead". Already now BOS showed that it can bring the ground forces to life............ AWESOME!!!

Yep, best server. Just two wishes:

- HUD should not be available on a full real server

- It would be nice if planes would spawn on parking place and not on runway. It would add more immersion and realism

Wouldn't the turbulence typically be higher up and not so much down low. Loving the mission needs auto balance 14 Axis vs 4 allied :P

Awesome Mission. Is it possible to make the stationary planes at the dromes count when destroyed? Also some more groundtargets for german JaBos would be nice. Maybe convoys of trucks or the like?

And most important: THANK YOU FOR YOUR AWESOME WORK!!!

Had another fantastic evening.

I am wondering if there are plans to encourage the use of TeamSpeak some more? I checked the official BoS server throughout the night and at most I saw two people in one channel.

Tested it yesterday, managed to shot down a Yak-1 and deliver supplies in one He111, the atmosphere really matters with a diferent mission than the EU/US Servers .

Nice Work!

+1

And please untick "prewarmed engines" to get real FR.

BTW I haven't seen this server up ever since. Is it constantly full or why can't I see it in my list?

That is not a good idea ( prewarmed engine ) since not all gages are working as intended / are not done completely ( noticed that in He 111 and 109 )

Good questions! Currently, there are no "win" conditions, this is just a test mission. Future missions will always have several objectives that can be achieved. There will be a fixed mission timer after which the achieved objectives will be counted to determine if the overall goal of the mission (for  side) was reached. Unfortunately, we can not award points for achieving an objective or overall goal. We can however (have to test, but this works in RoF) choose a specific mission based on these results so it means it is possible to progress through a sort of (static/branching) campaign system,

I had a thrilling time yesterday evening to fly supplies to Pitomnik. Due to the abscence of a fighter escort I made my way flying low towards Pitomnic.

I really thought I did it, when I was shot down on my final approach maybe 300 m before the threshhold...

I never knew who or what hit me....well...just another airmans faith soon to be forgotten.

The Dserver seems to crash once a day ATM, if it is off line we will get it back up when someone notices, just point it out here or on our forums and we will restart it, just bear in mind we don't do this as a full time job ;-) so there may be a delay.

I was attacked just before touchdown and crashlanded at Pitomnik. I wonder why flak didn't fire... maybe they ran out of ammo! ;)

On my second flight, I was shot down just after taking off from Kamishyn. Is the base defended by flak?

I found navigation quite easy in this clear weather, maybe some clouds could bring some more fun.

I like KillNotification=0

Maybe Pitomnik "radar" could be switched off.

Cheers, :salute:

Have to say I was on the Syndicate server last night, best mp experience I've had so far just doing supply drops into the Kessel, 12 HE111s taking off from the airfield is a very immersive sight to behold. Of course on that run I only made it under half way got bounced by a LAGG... still great fun, keep up the work guys. I'll post a screenshot later today
